I think he played well for England was because he had Walker in the back three behind him which allowed him to play a more attacking and concentrate on crosses

He was the perfect example of “don’t judge a player on a summer tournament”. Didn’t both Croatia goals come from his side? He didn’t have a great season pre World Cup and has actually got worse the more he played for whatever reason.

Anyway, he seems like a nice guy and I hope he does really well in Spain (I wish loads more English players would go abroad as I think it’s held us back in the past by them all staying here).

Would love to know what he meant regarding the issues behind the scenes.
I think there was a lot of criticism in his play and arguments with other players on responsibility after games this culminated into it all boiling over. Don't want to point fingers but apparently him and Toby did a lot of finger pointing and shouting after one game which went OTT and caused them to be dropped for the next game. Then in further games where both played, Sanchez had to play RCB to keep Trips and Toby apart.

Really? I must have missed all that.

Trippier claiming moving to Atletico is a step up from Spurs & behind the scenes issues caused him to leave us.

I would say it probably is, with Atletico being regularly in-the-mix for La Liga and European trophies.

They may not be Real/Barca level, but Atletico have been around par with us for league finishes - but if we're honest we've not won anything for a while, whereas they've had european honours and a league title a few years ago.

As well as that, he’s not likely going to shit on his current club either, at least if he wants to endear himself to their fans.

I see he is saying he thinks he was good until Xmas last season but then transfer talk and hearing Spurs wanted to sell him affected his form ?

Pretty sure he was absolutely rubbish from the beginning of the season actually. We also played City at home in October or something when he made that huge fuck up. Sorry Trippier, not buying it. You can’t start blaming the club for your poor form.

Him and a few others came back from the WC thinking they were the Dog’s bollocks only to then be piss poor for most of the season

He was absolutely shite last season, that’s why we let him go. He is only at Athletico rather than a newly promoted team based on his WC performances that won’t be replicated

So much bitterness here towards a player who would still improve our starting 11 just like that.

He had one bad season, we wanted him out, fucked him off, took it on the chin and is succeeding elsewhere. Am I missing something?

Can you imagine the stick he'd get from the Atletico fans if he said moving there was a step down?
