Getting a bit insecure watching the reels. He seems to bounce the ball into danger areas quite a bit. That would destroy us in the PL.
As he picks the ball out of the net again - he turns to the crowd:

If this happens, I’m here for it.

I like the feel of this signing.

Simply because it’s such a random unknown that there’s very little chance our old regime had anything to do with it.

Levy certainly ain’t gonna have a scooby who this bloke is and therefore it feels a bit more measured and calculated, like we’ve actually done a scout for a change…

If the deal goes through, he'll actually be Empoli's most expensive player sale of all time.

Here's the list of Empoli's most expensive players sold

If it’s a verbal offer of 17.2 m tonight then will be an actual offer of 15m in the am when it lands 😀

Spurs fans: “We want to be the club that scouts players and buys them before they are well known and cost so much”.

Buys highly rated Italian GK for great value.

Also Spurs fans: “This is way too big of a risk. What are we doing!”

You can’t have it both ways.

Can’t wait for Ange to have ‘the chat’ in his first training session…

“look mate, you’re very highly rated by the scouts and football people over in the Roman Empire, but I gotta be honest with you mate, OssiesArmy1882 on SC, he’s watched some footage from YouTube, and he used to play a bit too, he was a keeper for Durham County under sevens team, e’s dad was the gaffer and said he woulda made it to the top if he hadn’t had that hereditary dodgy knee… anyways, he reckons you’re no good, so look all I’m saying is mate, jury’s out ya know”.
Anyone else search to see if OssiesArmy1882 was a real member? 😂

This is exciting innit. Highly rated keeper available for a decent fee, exactly the type of purchase we need this window given how many new players we require.

Just told he's Gabbanini's pick and Ange was 100% on the same page. Lots of others with voices at the club had no idea who he was.
This might be hypocritical because I certainly didn’t know who he was - but maybe if these voices don’t know one of the top three or four keepers in Serie A despite it being their job to advise on our transfer dealings, that’s a sign they shouldn’t have quite so much of a say…

I quoted the clip for his reflexes interms of triple save. Especially the 2nd one.
You cant watch that and make an assessment that he always pushes it into middle.

If you look at Raya's compilations, you will also see time & again pushing into dangerous areas. Every keeper will do this, because sometimes you cant adjust. quick enough for a shot -especially if the ball is swerving.
I accept what your saying. But it's not just that clip it's a frequent pattern. That doesn't mean he's a bad keeper just something I noticed. It's absolutely not true that every top goalkeeper does this. On occasion, yes, as a pattern, no.

I also have question marks on Raya's footwork. But it seems this season he has improved this.

Vicario could also improve his weaknesses, players aren't static but it's been pointed out by many people here because there is a pattern that isn't just to be expected.

Given that this match was last season (see - our current left wing back playing in it), and most reviews say he's come on leaps and bounds this year, once again I'm not putting too much stock into this. Clearly cherry-picked by someone with an axe to grind to make him look worse than he is.
Raya?

I got the same impression. Saved a very high percentage with his legs too. Though in fairness so did Pat Jennings. I would have liked to see more of his handling of crosses. The few that i saw he punched rather than caught. Nothing to show his distribution either. I watched 3 of his reels.

I just watched a couple of David Raya videos by way of direct comparison. He looks a much safer keeper to me, catching a very high percentage of shots and when he parries he parries mostly out of danger. Top class distribution too.

i for one would see this as a downgrade from Raya but true to form as a typical second choice Levy cheap option.
