My take is we haven't got an individual wage cap so it is feasible. Club spent 60m on sissoko janssen GKN and probably paying them a combined 150k a week

Other players will then demand similar wages as well. Our wage bill would then go through the roof.

If we pay Aguero 250k a week, the likes of Alli, Kane, Lloris will demand parity. IMO there is a ceiling for that reason. We can afford to pay one player that amount but it would lift the bar for everyone to reach or get near.

City are in for Rose and Walker as well

There's a slim chance they'd get one of our players, no chance they'd get three. My point is that it'd just be like City to prioritise the wrong player. It's why despite spending hundreds of millions, they still look well short of winning the title. Don't get me wrong, Alli is a supremely talented young player but so is De Bruyne. City need defensive players, especially full backs. Sagna and Cliché were top players about 10 years ago.

Could be argued that we would sign someone like that, on those kind of wages to push the squad beyond it's current capabilities. Therefore the if that player is there to make that difference, he should be on a higher wage than the others.
Then again, that's now how football works unfortunately.

@Trix you probably can't say or even know but whats the feeling around the club. Everyone content?

I can't see anyone wanting to leave prior to the stadium being built but thats just me being optimistic.

We will always be vulnerable until our finances match up with Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea. All other players at the remaining 17 Premier League clubs are targets.

I would go as far as saying that if Manchester United offered 300k a week to anybody outside those three clubs, every player would crawl over broken glass to go.

Yep and that's the problem. We are very much like Monaco. Do you think they will keep all there players this year? There a young squad, going for the title, in champs league semi. But they are going to be recieving offer after offer in the summer

But they also play in an 18,000 capacity stadium, with no future development planned.
We've got a massive carrot to dangle in front of players at the moment, which may not currently be financial, but could very quickly become that as well.
Pretty sure they can't offer the tax breaks they used to be able to either...

But aside from all that, yeah, you're right.

Do you you stadiums make such a difference? If you offered a player 250k a week to play in front of 60k or 200k a week to play in front of 25k, I'm pretty sure they will choose the money

Oh and they also get to live in Monaco. Has to be a plus!

There is a massive difference challenging for the Prem than there is the French league. There is a reason why all the top managers in the world want to be here.

Surely even in your permenant state of impending doom you can see that?

There's also a massive difference between Tottenham and Man City, Utd, Chelsea, Real Madrid. Can you see that?

I've never seen anyone on here so obsessed with our players leaving. You seem almost desperate for someone to go so you can have a strop.

I seem to be one of few realists. I just don't get why people can't see over the whole history of football, players move for money and trophys. They don't stay because they like it where they are. It's like the people that said Bale won't go, he so happy here, he wants to be the main man, his wife is giving birth and won't move to Spain. All I've said is the club will very unlikely be able to turn down any world record fees for players. And the likes of Alli, who isn't a Tottenham fan, may well get his head swayed at 250k a week upgrade from his ridiculas 60k now

Real Madrid yes.

The others as far as winning the title is concerned no.

United have thrown money at the solution ever since Fergie left, and they've had zero success to present for it. They are no closer to winning the title now than they were under Van Gaal.
City not much different at the moment...
We're as likely to win the league as either of them, as the table has shown in the last 2 seasons.

If a player leaves us for anyone other than Chelsea, it's because of money, not because they don't think they can win things with us.
We may have lost the semi-final, and we may well only finish 2nd in the league, but players will hopefully also recognise that is an improvement on last year, and the next step is to win silverware next season.
