He is.
Its called being born black in a racist white country.

Hyperbole like this is to the detriment of a real discussion about race and racism.

Of course racism exists in this country - just as it does in any other - but please don’t brand the entire country racist.

Crowds need to be more proactive too. Everybody carries a device in their pocket that can give the authorities everything they need to deal with the perpitrators. Weed them out and good riddance I say. Of course, it's different in places like Montenegro that are 50 years behind the times but steps should be taken to monitor crowds in those places and once the evidence is there, expel them from international competitions.
Definitely. Ultimately, it will fall to a combination of individual and institutional action.

Oi, Yorkshire ain't that bad, thank you. We hate everybody equally.

True dat.
I'm from the South
and lived in Yorkshire for 35 years.
They came round eventually
just as I was leaving.
for Lincolnshire
All the negatives of Yorkshire
without any of the positives.

I'm joking,
for goodness sake.

A real discussion starts
with an acknowledgement of the actual situation.

See Hostile Environment and Windrush.
There is a lot of racism from the top down.
Moot point whether this makes us a racist country.
Doesn't mean and I didn't say
that everyone is racist

The response this should envoke is "Oh wow, racism in football is so rife and damaging that footballers don't even want to do what some consider to be the best job in the world"

From my point of view, whether it's conveyed eloquently or not, that is essentially what is being said and it's actually pretty sad.

If footballers are coming out and saying they don't want to be in football anymore because of racism, nobody should be pointing the finger at the player.

All your responses have been reasonable, Rez, that's why I haven't responded. I don't have a reply. You've thought about the subject more and seem to speak from some personal experience. My issue was with Rose's attitude, if you bring in the intersection of the effects of racism and depression into the debate, I don't have a reply, because it's beyond my realm of experience.

I only responded to Shadydan because he was unable to reply without resorting to insult, as is his wont.

Anyway, I'll bow out here. Happy to concede that the issue is more complex than I recognised in my original post. No offence meant to anyone.

Okay so firstly, I didn't insult you - I attacked you for your post because it's just a load of ill informed trash.

Secondly you even said yourself that you're speaking on position of privilege and ignorance which means you wouldn't understand where Rose is coming from and then you go onto make an incredibly ignorant viewpoint, putting a disclaimer on your post doesn't give you the right to speak shit on a subject you clearly don't know anything about, that's not how it works...if you feel that is the case then you should expect to be pulled up on it.

Thirdly it seems to me that you have an agenda against Rose as the tone of your posts suggests so. You said that he has an attitude problem despite knowing that he suffers from depression which has been well documented, do you not think that could be a reason or a catalyst for this perceived 'attitude problem'. You brought up the the rant about money, what does that have to do with racial abuse? I don't see how it's relevant.

I'm sorry but you don't live a life of extraordinary privilege if you having to deal with racism especially knowing that the authorities will do nothing about it, this is why I said you are detached from reality because you think that he should just shut up and get on with it due to what he earns and he is incredibly luck to be in his position, it doesn't work like that.

Some of you are treading a fine line here folks. We (nearly) always welcome a debate here but when some of the more idiotic comments here detract from the discussion we will have to make a call. Racism is a serious subject with serious viewpoints. If you are misreading the tone of the discussion then you might be better off keeping schtum.

Really? Seems pretty obvious to me....disgruntled people the world over tend to look for someone to blame (too unsettling to consider their own role in their predicament of course) starting with people who either dont seem to have the same issues and/or make them question their own existence by virtue of that fact that they arent clones. There you go, my 5 pence on the topic.

Yep. Blacks, muslims, Tories, Trump, some people will always find a focal point for their anger, its hardly a new thing.

Fucking hell, the state of these posts :ROFLMAO:

Did anyone else catch it? What did he say?

He started off with ‘he can afford 2 minders to walk by his side every minute of the day to attack anyone who’s racist towards him, millions of other blacks can’t, so he shouldn’t be angry’.

Then he pretty much compared racial abuse to banter. Then he said being punched is worse than racist abuse. Then he said he’d rather be called a cockney so and so rather than being hit, so why can’t Rose accept it etc. Before he said he was a cockney, Clinton Morrison told him he wouldn’t understand as he’s not black. ‘Dave’ then said ‘how do you know I’m not black’. Morrison said ‘well are you black’. Dave laughed weirdly a couple of times and eventually said ‘no I’m not’. It was cringeworthy and they all slated him to bits. Embarrassing for anyone Spurs related.

It’s not really a moot point. Your choice of words is antagonistic, gets people’s backs up and causes people to walk away from the discussion.

I don’t dispute institutional racism and I don’t dispute that there are racists among the masses. It doesn’t make the country racist.

You’re lumping decent people in with scumbags. It’s a sweeping generalisation of a population based on Nationality...

I don't believe its unreasonable to call a country racist when institutional racism in that country is so widespread.

Ok, so when you said 'you just look foolish', you weren't insulting me? Good to know.

Unfortunately, you don't get to decide who's allowed to speak about what, and when. You may not like my point of view, but I'm entitled to express it.

I get the impression you're using moral outrage as an excuse to be abusive. But again, that's just my opinion.

Decent people can live in a racist country, doesn't make them less decent
or the country less racist.

Getting people's backs up
usually leads to more involvement not less.

One person's antagonism
is another's telling it like it is
as we used to say in the 60's

More colour than nationality.
Black people born here don't suffer less racism.

Govt tolerate racism as do the football authorities
and your acceptance of 'institutional racism'
tend to prove my point

when did Tommy Robinson join this forum? It’s like we’be regressed back to the 70’s where racism and sexism were the norm and anyone that flounces was a poofter. WTF is wrong with people still dragging their knuckles?
Get back in the kitchen and make me a sandwich! :cautious:;)
