I actually think this is sensible personally. Davies performed strongly last year so it wasn’t an area of concern for me. Depth yes and one way to get depth is to upgrade but given that looks like costing £60m or so for bastoni - is that the best position to spend, say one-third of our transfer budget? The Lenglet loan deal (with purchase option I’d imagine) allows us to go big on some other positions. For example hakimi (just an example, doesn’t look like he’s on the market) which would be more transformative I think.

I’m glad we have such quality scouts on spurs community. Makes you actually wonder why we employ Paratici and Conte when there is such a wealth of knowledge about players on here. You think lessons about judging players might have been learned with the juve pair. Sack them all! We can have a couple of polls for new signings and between the transfers and tactical knowledge on here we will dominate world football

We always talk about paratici lining up several deals before pulling the trigger on one and this looks like that to me.

I cant say I've paid much attention to him to give an opinion but I think the club has earned our trust to let them play it out and let conte work with what they get.

If he isn't happy by all means then get worried.

Just had a little look at the start of the Kulu thread and the degree of wrongness is quite incredible. None of us know anything.

This is surely just media bull....? Lenglet is not a premier league player. he is a mistake on two legs. Now add the pace in PL and he will be a mistake on all 4 . Stay clear please.
Pretty sure people said the same re Dier and Davies at one point. Even Sanchez at the back end of the season when Romero was injured. Oh and Emerson too.

Clément Lenglet, offered to Tottenham and Juventus. At the moment there is NOTHING hot.

"Nothing hot" makes me more confident this is a backup deal/or led by Barca

The initial reports said Barca were trying to close it not us. It's more them trying to get him gone than a club trying to get him in.

This is it, if we were interested we could have signed him at the start of the season or even in January.

He is on 115k euros a week, which is a lot for a back up CB. I think Barca just want him off the wage bill.

Barca are desperate to sell players, their wage bill is still ridiculous.

He strikes me as a similar situation to Bentancur who had a bad high profile error and fell out of favor with supporters, etc. could be a bargain if we get an option to buy.

This guy is a journalist for Mundo Deportivo, not sure how reliable. Translates to: "Lenglet to Tottenham is still on the table. It would be a 1 year loan move."

Pretty clear he’s the backup option should everything else fail.

A 1 year loan deal would be great even as extra cover for the squad. Would be cheap and effective when needed to be called on. If he plays well, over the season, then possibly extend for another year or purchase him. I'm all for this.
