I think Real are in the midst of clearing the decks. They’ve had a hugely disappointing season and need to make a bigger impact on the gap between them and Barca.

Agreed
I'd also be surprised if ZZ wasn't offered massive transfer funds to help lure him back.

It shows just how poor a season they’ve had when you consider that Barca look a shadow of their former-selves too.

Jovic - €60mil
Militao- €50mil
Rodrygo- €45mil

They have already spent €155 million euros plus likely another 100 million on Hazard, want Pogba as well. Are Real likely to spend the money on Eriksen?

On the face of it it looks like FFP might have something to say about it? Who are they trying to get out the door the other way, Bale aside?

Real Madrid haven't really spent much on transfers over the last two or three seasons though. They've also made a lot of money from their champions League runs. They can probably afford to have a big spend this summer without having to worry about FFP.

Yep. They spent £26m net last season

https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/real-madrid/transfers/verein/418

In 17/18 they made £79m

https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/rea...18/plus/0?saison_id=2017&pos=&detailpos=&w_s=

In 16/17 they made £6.75m

https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/rea...18/plus/0?saison_id=2016&pos=&detailpos=&w_s=

So they could easily make spurge this summer, especially with sales.

I didn’t think they’d be willing to spend that much on Eriksen but now after looking at how much they spent recently, maybe they will actually be willing to spank a load of cash on him if they think he’s a better option than pogba.

Also take into account how much they’ve saved by just clearing ronaldos wages and bonuses for a season...

He aint good enough for Madrid. He's massively inconsistent and been playing like Ozil this season. In his day he's fucking superb but I'm at a place where I'm unsure if I want him to stay or not

I think their wages spiralled a bit out of control over that period, just look at Bale on £650k. I think most of the regulars got big payrises during Zidane's reign. They did make profits totalling around £50m across the 2017/18 accounts and had around £200m in the bank, so they certainly have scope for a big net spend if they need one.

I think Madrid this season are a bit like us where its going to be a big one off rebuild so I doubt FFP will be an issue for either club on that front.

That said I can't see it being anything but an either/or with Pogba and Eriksen and I do think the former may well get done.

If they manage to get rid of any of James, Kovacic, Marcelo, Navas, Bale they get even more transfer money and room for wages.

2nd most productive player in both the league and champions league behind Kane, in a season that saw us finish top 4 and reach the champions league final.

Below his own high standards? Definitely. But to say he has been rubbish, or that we’d be better without him, is ludicrous. Sissoko aside (for whom the only way was up), our entire midfield and attack have dipped this season. Son, Dele, Kane, Dier, Dembele while he was here, all nailed in starters as we finished 3rd, 2nd, 3rd, all have performed below what we’ve come to expect.

Maybe, just maybe, Eriksen and all the others could do with some more competition for places, a few more tests, a summer without international football and a season in one stadium that the fans fill every week.

Told Danish media he wants a new challenge apparently: https://ekstrabladet.dk/sport/fodbo...om-fremtiden-jeg-vil-proeve-noget-nyt/7661012

This is the key translated parts of that article:

I feel that I am a place in my career where I might want to try something new, says the words, which will surely make the big clubs' sports directors point their ears.

'I want to try something new'
- I have the wildest and deepest respect for everything that has happened in Tottenham, nor will it be negative. But I have also said that I would like to try something new, says Christian Eriksen, who hopes for a quick clarification.
- I hope there will be a clarification during the summer. That's the plan. In football you do not know when a clarification comes. It can happen anytime. Everyone wants it best if it happens as soon as possible, but in football takes things time, says Eriksen, who will not reject that he has played his last match in the white Spurs shirt.
Although the CL finalist hopes for a quick clarification, he recognizes that it is out of his own hands.
- It depends on Daniel Levy (Tottenham's chairman, ed.), And another club has to come. Or I have to sit down at the table and negotiate a new contract. You can't set a date yourself, says Christian Eriksen, who feels that Tottenham with the CL final against Liverpool has become a real top club.
Hopefully a step up,
therefore, there are only very few clubs that will be able to lure him away from London.
- There are not many points that Tottenham cannot meet. If I have to go, then hopefully it will be a step up.
And one of the clubs Real Madrid that has long been mentioned as a possible suitor.
- It's a step up. But it requires Real Madrid to call Tottenham and say they want Christian. And they have not done so yet, as far as I know. "Says the reworked Dane, who also does not completely refuse to let the contract with Tottenham run out, so that he can change for free in one year.
- It is hard. It depends on the possibilities. If nothing pops up that is more exciting, why not stay in Tottenham? If I then sign a new contract, depends on the conditions, he states.
But that straw must neither Daniel Levy nor the Tottenham supporters hope too much, because Christian Eriksen sounds like and looks like a man who has made his decision.

Hard to have any resentment towards him tbh. He’s been amazing for this club, is incredibly respectful towards us, and clearly his potential move isn’t financially-motivated.

No hard feelings at all. As long as he isn't stupid enough to go to an English rival.

Been a remarkable signing for us considering the fee we paid. I'll be sorry to see him go.

Would've loved a season with him and lo Celso in the squad.
