It's funny how some on here seem to refuse to accept that some of our players play like complete shit for large parts of the season. If you hadn't noticed, our performances generally this season have been really really poor. We've lost a hell of a lot of games, and I would say over 50% of the ones we have won, maybe even 70%, have been similarly turgid performances, yet we managed to sneak home all 3 points.

You can point to the Wembley factor, and the upheaval it created etc, but team performance or lack of it, is directly releated to collective individual performances. The poor individual performances from the likes of Eriksen, Alli, Dier, Trippier, Lloris contribute to the collective shit show we've seen so many times this season.

Whilst we played well second half yesterday, we still couldn't hit a barn door with a banjo, and the likes of Sissoko and Alli's attempts were just piss poor. Finishing chances and being clinical is just as important as completing passes, winning duels etc, so really, due to the chances we missed, we can't say we played THAT well.

Of course, the fuck up at the end was again directly related to a poor individual performance from Lloris.

Basically, too many of our players have been way below par this season, and Eriksen is one of them.

I think you and I have different ideas of what "complete shit" is.

Really? Fulham away? Burnley home/away? Wolves at home? Liverpool at home? If I was to run through this seasons fixtures, we have played like complete shit in many of them.

Eriksen is a quality player but anybody can see he's been playing below his usual standard for months now.

That doesn't mean he's been shocking, far from it, but his performances havn't been as influential despite him contributing with assists etc.

We've actually being playing poorly for months now, even on that run when we were grinding out results against Newcastle, Watford and got lucky against Leicester.

It's no coincidence that we've been below par when Eriksen has been.

I thought he was really poor first half yesterday , several promising attacks broke down through him.

He played better second half but by in large he's been below his standard for some time now. My eyes tell me that, pure and simple.

He's not the only one by any means but he's our most influenctial player and we just don't look the same when he's not purring, and he hasn't been really.

thats the whole team, though. we are so slow in transition that by the time Eriksen gets the ball the opposition has 7 or 8 men back.

Looks about par to me, with games left to play. Another assist yesterday as well. But hey... narratives and all that.

The reaction of some Spurs fans to Eriksen's supposed "poor season" is utterly pathetic.

He's a playmaker who runs as hard as anyone in the team.

If the people he "play makes" for - ie: Dele; Kane; Son - are not in the side because they are injured (while he's remained fully fit) it makes his job harder and the team suffers.

IT'S NOT HIS FAULT WE'VE HAD AN INJURY CRISIS.

Fucking Spurs fans...

Just like any other player he's down on confidence and touch but there's ZERO EVIDENCE that he's "downed tools". The slurs against him have been fucking pathetic and embarrassing.

Partly. But it's plain to see he's been below par.

And it's up to our creative and attacking players to find spaces between the lines, and pass and move intelligently.

I really can't understand how anyone can't see he's been below par for the majority games we've played for the last two/three months.

Despite getting assist yesterday we can't deny he was still so poor

Especially when that assist was a scuffed shot!

Great player but in a run of very poor form.

In his whole career to date I bet he wouldn’t have given the ball away as much as he has in 2019

Tough thing for us is that when Eriksen is below par our attack just doesn’t click.

He’s very important to us, and we really need the real Eriksen to stand up for the run in.

Edit, Haha, I hope ‘Real Eriksen’ wasn’t a unintended prophetic slip.

Disagree.

That .4/.5 drop of doesn’t look like much but that a huge difference.

It means rather than before where he was alternating 7s with more influential 8s match by match.
He’s now just clocking the 7s.
Most players are given 6s for poorer showings so those 7s are really not helping us.
I thought the yellows this season are interesting too.
Maybe it’s his deeper role but he definitely isn’t influencing games as positively as previous years

i feel like the whole side has been below par since mid January bar the CBs and Sonny's little run while Kane was out. I honestly have a hard time singling out Eriksen.

He has as many assists as last season with 15 less games. How are you getting that conclusion?

But its because he's so integral to our playing tempo.

Honestly, any other player, even Kane, we can afford them to be under par and still be OK.

When it's Eriksen it just seems to be fatal for us.

If anything it proves how important he is.

If that was a terrible game then what did Dele and Sissoko have? Oh I forgot Dele slide tackled Milner once in the first half and then Sissoko made a really long run and couldn't put a fucking ball on target so they get passes. Yet Eriksen puts multiple players in behind the defense, assists our only goal and gets completely shit on. Unbelievable.

Sissoko had a very good day.

You're talking shit there.

Good luck to him, no hard feelings from me. 27 now, if he can join a Madrid or Barca and win stuff good for him .

I don't think he's irreplaceable at all, our style may change but we'll be fine

I agree he's down on touch and form but what fucking really annoys me is the suggestion he's "already gone". It's just not true - he works as hard as ever.

The problem is we've lost that "connection" the front four had. This isn't surprising given the many injuries and absences in that front four over the season.

Only the second Premiership player to get 10 assists
in four consecutive seasons.
David Beckham the first.
Just saying.

I’m saying he’s no longer putting in those 9 or 8/10 match ratings

Really and truly who is putting in 9/10 performances this season consistently bar a few players, most of them have been average/above average.

So why does everyone need to jump on him when there are others not playing up to their level? The problem is that people are just over exaggerating his demise just because he has hit foot out the door, he's been below par but he hasn't been that bad, not as bad as people have been making out.
