You do realise I'm only doing it to prove a point because of how far the Eriksen lovers take it the other way? Anyone would think that we have Hazard, De Bruyne and Silva combined in one player the way they go on about Eriksen. The guy is so overrated it's ridiculous but many of you seem incapable of understanding that I can rate a player's ability alongside him being overrated. If you look back through my posts you'll see me mention plenty of times that he's one of the most naturally gifted players I've ever seen play for us but his lack of being able to do it for long periods of games consistently is what separates him from the aforementioned players.

In terms of me being told I'm an incredibly shit fan by a guy that spends the majority of his life on a football forum, never at games and goes out of his way to call anyone he can out on things they said months previously that's probably a compliment. If you're what is classed as the epitome of a great fan then there really is no hope.

Thanks for those spam ratings guys, not sure how I'm going to sleep tonight.

I couldn't really agree more with what is written above here. The only chance he will end up at Madrid is on some Ramsey type deal where there's no transfer fee. I would imagine world class players like Hazard are far higher up their radar.
Eriksen lovers?!...Listen to yourself you pathetic little weasel lol, Christian Eriksen is a Tottenham Hotspur player who might I add has been aboluely instrumental in our huge progression as a club these last few years. You are or are meant to be a Spurs fan/supporter so it's your job to support the players in this club, whether you think they are overrated or get too much praise or not you get behind our players. You like me are meant to be 'Eriksen lovers' because you're meant to fucking support him, why is that such a hard concept to grasp?

This is why you're a shit fan, it doesn't matter if you go to games and travel up and down the country following the team, if you're incompetent of being a Spurs supporter then kindly give your season ticket to someone else and fuck off.

Why are you mentioning Hazard when he hasn't been as consistent as Eriksen has in the Prem, do you actually watch football, genuine question? Also if you want to bring up Silva and De Bruyne, Eriksen was playing at that level last season, think he has the 3rd most chances created in the league and made Prem TOTS...Even De Bruyne and Silva haven't lived up to their own standards they set themselves last season so what the entire fuck are you on about?

If we look back through your posts?, okay I'll oblige

Eriksen is the only player that can have a shit game bar one assist which was mostly down to Trippier's great pass yet be highly praised for picking a teammate up off the floor. If half of you found him shagging your mrs you would come onto SC and give him a 10 in the match thread for being a great guy. He is so overrated it's crazy, that doesn't mean he's not very good but he is someone who can only be arsed half of the time he is not Barca/Madrid standard, hence why he's at Spurs and none of the top teams have bid for him.

And for those comparing his importance to Kane's, well you're a lost cause.
Another top game for Eriksen. We're just lucky that he will move to Barcelona after we play them.
Oh see. Another Eriksen bottle in a big game. Have seen this far too often.
Can't help but think Eriksen is Barcelona bound after another amazing performance.... Espanyol.
Another performance this season he should hope Barcelona weren't watching. :ROFLMAO:

When you remove the games where Eriksen adds bundles to his stats against poor teams who give him space he is nothing better than Gylfi Sigurdsson. Once again he bottled challenges, lost the ball on multiple occasions and offered nothing from set pieces. It's hard to class someone world class when they haven't scored a free kick for their club in 2 years.

There's a reason why there have been no bids for him since he joined Spurs. All this crap about him being under the radar is ridiculous given every big club will have scouts watching the PL, CL and internationals. On his day he is a very good player, but so is Juan Mata.
Pretty embarrassing stuff from a Spurs 'fan' and there's more comments, I don't think you realise how much of an idiot you come across.

lol There you go again, you're speculating that I never go to games, this is the most pathetic argument anyone can have on a football forum just because you are desperate for that one-upmanship lol...as I said last time carry on speculating on whether I go to games or not it's irrelevant in the grand scheme of things especially since you go and you can't do a basic job of supporting the team.

RM will spend big this summer. Also they will sell, Isco will 100% leave, so will Kovacic. Those two alone will cover the cost of Eriksen given his contract situation. The only way I maybe see him staying is if we win the league. But we won't. And even then he would probably still feel like it was time to move on. I really don't see a single scenario in which he stays.
The only way I see him staying is if the next RM boss would rather buy different players. Hazard is as good as there imo, so do they want both Hazard and Eriksen?

Its the hyperbole mate - he is not "so overrated its ridiculous" and Hazard nor David Silva do the things you mention consistently game in game out.

The guy is no 23. and no 29. in ALL TIME premier league assists and goals for midfielders respectively and has more tackles this season (27) than Hazard, Silva or DeBruyne

There have been multiple reports over the past few weeks from different outlets in Spain that they have moved on from Eriksen as a target. He had always been seen as a Modric replacement and evidently Ceballos has played well enough this season that they don't see the need to buy a player to fill that role. Let's hope that continues to be the case for the rest of the season.

I'm not obliged to love any player that plays for us but first of all whether you believe me or not I've only ever been vocally supportive of our players at matches and what I post on forums is completely irrelevant to that. A lot of speculation and assumption in your post about what I do at matches and how I go about supporting the players, if that's what you're trying to call me out for.

Hazard hasn't been as consistent as Eriksen? And I get called the troll on here. When you consider the strikers Hazard plays with, the managerial changes, the way that the players around him down tools every other seasons I really don't see how this one can even be argued but let's agree to disagree.

Tbh I really couldn't care less what you think of me. I can't be arsed to go back through my posts but I guarantee you will have hand selected specific ones to suit your agenda, there will be plenty of times where I credit Eriksen's ability, that has never ever been questioned. He is overrated by our fans, he will not end up at Madrid in my opinion, let's leave it at that.

The hyperbole from our fans is why I post. One of the posts the other day labelled him as "criminally underrated". Does anyone on this forum seriously think he's criminally underrated? Seriously?

I've seen him labelled as more important to us than Harry Kane. Really? We should be more upset if Eriksen leaves over Kane?

I remember in the ratings thread no matter how poorly Eriksen played Bus Conductor would find a way to praise him. "He completed more 5-10 yard passes in the right corner of the final third during minutes 61-70 than any other player on the pitch". DTX seems to have taken over as that guy.

If you lot think I'm trolling then fair enough but I've mostly just been arguing against what I see as complete blind praise for a player that is very good but not world class.

I don't think you're trolling per se, but if you're using hyperbole as a response to what you deem hyperbole then surely your comments are just as ridiculous.

I know stats don't show the whole picture but when you look at them comparitvely over the course of 4-5 seasons where he produces a consistent return, on a par with players you deem world class I think it's fair to say he stands along side them all

You're entitled to your opinion I just happen to think mine is right

While I don't think my comments are ridiculous I am obviously mostly on focusing on the negatives. He's a great player, he has so much ability it's unreal and for me that is why it's frustrating when he fails to perform consistently.

An Eriksen inspired elimination of RM in the next round of the CL will have them scampering after him again.

I think the point is mate that over the time he has been with us he has. Might not be every game, or every minute of every game but you'd be hard pressed to find someone who does what he does better more often.

This thread is getting ridiculous, nobody on here is slagging Eriksen off or hoping he leaves its just some disagree regarding his relative importance to the team.

I always wonder why people get personal when discussing the merits of a footballer.

"You know nothing"
"You're not a fan"

People have different opinions, some need to grow up a bit.

I personally believe that any player who is our creative midfielder, in a team where we dominate the majority of the match against most opponents, while taking almost all set pieces, should be putting up ridiculously good stats. Eriksen has Kane, Son, Dele, Lamela and Moura around him, these are all guys that are going to finish your chances.

I remember thinking to myself after one of the many thousand 4-0s we had over Stoke in which I believe he scored twice and had two assists just how great he is when teams offer him that space although I can't help but feel he is very ineffective against teams that park the bus, which is when we need him most.

We could sit here and debate what consistency means to each of us but I feel like we see the polar opposites with Eriksen too often. He could easily have a 3 game spell where he doesn't beat the first man with a cross but then the next 3 games he's looking like an absolute world beater. Obviously no player is going to play well every game but for me it's that seeming lack of commitment to being the world beater Eriksen every week that irks me the most.

I really dislike the bloke ever since he dived for a pen against us many years ago but when you look at how Ronaldo has turned the ability he had into being one of the top players ever you can really see the desire that some people want it and other wants it more. I think that CE's performances for Denmark compared to those for us say a lot about him.

The thing is, all players go through rough patches, or periods where they are simply not performing to their best ability. Harry Kane has had long goal draughts relative to his own standard, Son looked jaded the first month of the season, same with Dele. But we give them a free pass because we know their quality. I rarely see the same toxic and hateful comments about the above mentioned in the match threads.

In my opinion a lot of fans don't give Eriksen that same benefit of a doubt. Which is ludicrous considering the amount of matches he plays and the fact that he has virtually no competetion or back-up for the role he plays. In September 2018 we had a 57% win ratio with Eriksen and without him 50% - that speaks volumes no?

Nobody has ever questioned Kane's desire though. For Dele, he's had many people talk about him drifting through games before popping up with one piece of magic and with regards to Son, ive never seen anyone label him Madrid bound or claim he's more important than Kane as they have with Eriksen.
