I personally believe that any player who is our creative midfielder, in a team where we dominate the majority of the match against most opponents, while taking almost all set pieces, should be putting up ridiculously good stats. Eriksen has Kane, Son, Dele, Lamela and Moura around him, these are all guys that are going to finish your chances.
I remember thinking to myself after one of the many thousand 4-0s we had over Stoke in which I believe he scored twice and had two assists just how great he is when teams offer him that space although I can't help but feel he is very ineffective against teams that park the bus, which is when we need him most.
We could sit here and debate what consistency means to each of us but I feel like we see the polar opposites with Eriksen too often. He could easily have a 3 game spell where he doesn't beat the first man with a cross but then the next 3 games he's looking like an absolute world beater. Obviously no player is going to play well every game but for me it's that seeming lack of commitment to being the world beater Eriksen every week that irks me the most.
I really dislike the bloke ever since he dived for a pen against us many years ago but when you look at how Ronaldo has turned the ability he had into being one of the top players ever you can really see the desire that some people want it and other wants it more. I think that CE's performances for Denmark compared to those for us say a lot about him.
Think we will just have to agree to disagree here. Considering how often he plays for us Vs Denmark it's not surprising that he will more dips in form for us.
I'm not sure I have ever seen him have a 3 game spell where he doesn't beat a first man with a cross but maybe I'm not keeping as avid a watch.
Teams that park the bus are notoriously hard to beat full stop. Lets ignore the fact that a lot of teams struggle to score against teams that park the bus and just look at the last game we played Vs someone who did against us....Newcastle. Eriksen played 6 key passes and had 109 touches during the game.
Finally I think you again lose credibility when you constantly move the goalposts in your argument. First saying he doesn't match up to Silva, Hazard or DeBruyne when he clearly does, then going on to compare him to Ronaldo which, is basically using the best player in the world as a yard stick to prove a point that you were never making in the first place.
I'll leave this discussion here for now I think.
