We were "talking" to Dortmund as far back as last season if ITK is correct but Chelsea got the deal done
Amazing what deep pockets can do for you, also selling off one of the worlds best players might help.

We're never going to sign a player again are we? :p

They want too much money, transfer fees are too high, it's "difficult" blah blah fucking blah. And that bubble ain't bursting any time soon so at what point does it end? Some people have suggested the new stadium (which will not affect transfers by the way) might take ten years to start paying off. Are we that close to the edge of FFP? Given our net spend that seems improbable to me, but like everyone I'm guessing, there's not a poster on here who knows nailed on the reality of our financial situation, it's all guess work so I'm not sure why posters with a different view get given a hard time for disagreeing.

So which of our top stars will be sacrificed? Given that we supposedly unable to pay fees/wages that is what people should be really concerned about surely?

The only thing that's free is the ride Baldylocks constantly gets given :playful:

We could do what Liverpool do and keep selling our best players and then use the money to bring in other players no ?

I think it's pretty obvious.

As far as people being given a hard time, let's face it, there are people here who come out to bat for both camps at this time of year and there are the group in between who can see both sides opinions.

No point in burying ones head in the sand when cold hard fact is produced to support either sides argument, but considering none of us know the truth - well all most none of us - after that we're pissing in the wind.

I'd really love some transparency from the club as a whole on the transfer window but I won't get what I want, I doubt the majority of us will, including a decent transfer or two. :)

I’m already looking forward to the excuses this summer:

- we’re waiting for the UEFA Nations League to finish
- we’re waiting for the other bigger clubs to do their business first
- we’re waiting for prices to come down

Then later in the window:

- prices are too much
- wage demands are too much
- agent’s fees are too much
- our targets are waiting to see if they get better offers
And then finally:
We tried but just couldn’t get the deals over the line

;)

I weep when you present it like that

Problem is, should Eriksen be the top star that leaves, given his contract length we won't get anywhere near his actual worth. Same with Alder. I don't put that on Levy because no player has to sign an extension but it's the reality of the situation that we won't be able to replace them for players of similar quality with the money we will get for them.

How about we sacrifice our biggest star, Baldylocks himself. I’m up for it, how about you ?

That is historically Spurs transfer policy - Modric, Bale, Walker as the more recent ones. Regardless of Liverpool selling their best player they still spend more than what they bring in.

If you're meaning only outgoing player sales I agree, but at this moment in time their income far exceeds ours and therefore they have more to spend.

I agree with you but I just don't know how we can are going to support our sought after Manager who has now said on a few occasions we need to improve the squad every season to keep it fresh as well as take more risks (this is open to interpretation).
