That's what I'd like to do, Dele in the middle and sign Sancho for the wide role. I guess it's all debatable what position a player have in our tactics though. Some would say Eriksen is the man on the right, as there's where he often go on runs.
I'd take a leaf of Atletico Madrid's book, they lost world class striker after striker, but knew they needed to replace with similar quality. Instead of making a profit and buy three average players in different position they went all in and signed the best striker they could get their hands on. Torres - Forlan - Aguero - Costa - Griezmann etc. Star players must be replaced by star quality.
I see no problem spending 70m on Sancho if it's to replace Eriksen going for similar. It's money we wouldn't have without the sale anyway.

If Eriksen goes to Real Madrid, what's the odds on us taking Martin Ødegaard in return though? Could see that happen. That's more in our transfer profile to be honest. Someone younger with similar talent, but yet to deliver at the same level.
If we got Sancho that solves the forward depth issue but there would still be a huge gaping mezzala/playmaker hole in the side. A good one would cost us at least £40m you'd think.

None of those guys were stars (outside of probably Forlan) when they started at Atletico. They just scout incredibly well at that position.

Lol scouted. They were used (same as porto) by agents who had 3rd party ownership to boost the value of their players.

Torres and Costa were youth products. No idea the story about agents of Griezmann and Forlan.

There was serious money involved as well, can of course never underestimate scouting or agent knowledge for that matter. But particular Aguero was replaced by a just as expensive Falcao. Atletico weren't competitive financially at the time, but were very clear that they weren't selling to make a profit. They spent all that they got on the replacement.
And that's kind of my point. If we sell Eriksen for 70m, we can't say that we have a limit on spending at 30m, the big fee in is a bonus and should all be used on a replacement. We're not in a position where we need half a team anymore, we need extreme quality in few positions.

Think we'll be fine if we do what Liverpool did with Coutinho and reshape our team(midfield) and not just find a direct replacement for him.

I'll miss him, but if we buy properly we might not miss a beat.

Trouble is you never win anything continuously taking the young talented option. By the time you've developed him into a superstar you've lost another one. That's why we never take that final step to winning trophys.

No doubt, just "fear" that will be our situation in coming years as much as it has in the past.

Martin Ødegaard is an interesting one - made a terrible choice in going to Madrid so young, but has only just turned 20 and is starting to look just as good as Eriksen did in the Dutch league at the same age.

Honestly Madrid might accept that for Isco but I don't see him coming here. Nabil Fekir, but he isn't as much of a creator as Eriksen. Would have to find an up and comer, Pablo Fornals from Villarreal maybe? I'd probably go all in on a CM who can create from deep, leave Dele as the #10 and buy a really good winger.
Fornals is certainly a very good option. but for me our number 1 target really should be Aouar. For me he is probably the most talented of all the youth AMs and he can play just as well as a CM. I reckon we could also pick him up for 40 or so mil. Fekir I would love but he is not a Poch player. Aouar is IMO. He should be right at the top of the list .

Buy Hazard to replace Eriksen ;-)

James Maddison if he leaves please!

Can see Eriksen running down his contract as Real will almost certainly move for Hazard in the summer who also has just 18 months the run. The difference is if Eriksen only wants to move to Real they can afford to wait whereas they don’t have that luxury with Hazard so I can imagine they’d prioritise him.

A season too late to be bringing him up. He was the most Eriksen like player available in the summer. Would have been a very sensible signing. A talented sub, a more than capable injury replacement and if the worst happens a potential heir to Eriksen moving on.

Would have been perfect. Great talent. Now he’ll have a £ridiculous price tag and so a no go for us.

Eriksen leaving will be a shambles. I suspect many will disagree but if we were looking for a replacement with Premier League experience that we could realistically purchase I’d go for Pereyra at Watford. Always looks to have something special in his locker and clearly has a decent pedigree given his former clubs. In fact even if Eriksen stays I’d take Pereyra over Lamela.

Good player but hasn’t shown anything to suggest he will reach Eriksen’s level. Of players we could have bought from the Championship ive been more impressed with Brooks, looks a seriously classy player, albeit more Dele than Eriksen in playing style.

I hoping Eriksen will sign a new contract and stay. I we sell a player like that we are not a team who wants to win the PL or CL.
