It's not where he comes from that's the problem, he's just not a great player. He has certain skills, and he's even had a couple of good games for us and scored a few goals. But he's an extremely limited player, with a weak mentality to boot.

He's flattered to deceive for Brazil.

If you think about it, direct south American imports have done no worse than European imports.

That shot was the final nail in the coffin.

Only at Tottenham, do we sign (at the time) a world class Brasilian, goal scoring midfielder only for him to turn out to be a dove.

We've had some really bad luck with Brasilian players.

Seriously, is he any worse than the last Brazilian twat we signed before Sandro...what was his name.

Ah yes, GILBERTO. Jesus Christ. He was to football what the Pope is to hang-gliding.

Didn't Wilson Palacious come direct also, he smashed it in EPL until his brothers hostage situation.

Agree with the Juninho at boro also Emerson at the same time was pretty good, tevez, to a lesser extent. I always thought forlan looked a real player, just couldn't score.

That was funny (best around is one of the great songs) but I actually thought Paulinho was alright this season. Opportunities were limited, but when he did play he didn't disgrace himself. Popular concensus has labelled him terrible but I think there's a functional player there.

Not so confident, I think he slows play down and ponders about, passes back wards a lot. Maybe there is a player in there but I am not confinced.

he's been no worse than Lamela and better value for the price, and brilliant compared to Soldado. he's just the latest scapegoat.

A certain Osvaldo Ardiles and Ricky Villa didn't do too badly, straight from Argentina........

I was a bit too young to remember - but reading posts on here from older members who remember Ossie's arrival, I thought he had a slow first season adapting to the English league, with flashes of some brilliance?

Paulinho has been relatively abject this season, but has hardly played. Saying that, it can't have been easy for him, a Brasilian to arrive under a manager who spoke his language with two other Brasilians in the squad - to within one season find himself under a new manager, his two Brasilian mates transferred to other teams and now under his 3rd, Argentinian manager.

Sure he's a professional who has seemed at times to be completely lacklustre - and it appears he's likely to be on his way out of WHL. But I feel for him; he really did show glimpses of brilliant skill but things have not fallen his way.
