Is anybody else sick of the idiots running it?

We're having a dreadful season by all standards. The wins are shite 2-1s with late winners, and the losses are mounting up week by week.

What does the Spurs Facebook team do every week?

1. A picture of Pochettino doing his interview right after the game with the caption: "We played the way we wanted to, but were disappointed".

2. A picture of Rose, Walker or Kane midweek with the caption: "The lads did their best last week and/but were disappointed to go down/delighted to get the points and have trained well, onto game X".

3. A picture of Bentaleb on the Friday with the caption: "NABIL'S WARNING: Nabil Bentaleb says we're in great form and have trained very well, he thinks *insert quote about how we beat them last season and match up well*".

That's not to mention two posts a day for the last six months about your #THFCULTIMATETEAM!

I'm bloody sick of it. It's making a joke out of our season, because the players and manager break their promises every week.

I think Donna's been doing a bang up job, personally;):cautious:

Really though. I completely agree. The public relations and the social media departments are a complete joke. Terrible. Just like the club's transparency.

It's really bad. As someone who does it as a job, I'd love to have a crack at it, but unfortunately, I live in Australia. The worst thing, which doesn't get enough attention is the occasional promo of betting websites, tweets like "Fredbet is paying 6/1 for Harry to score first." You can't do that, you just can't.

Same with StubHub. Sponsorship deals they have with the club. The amount of abusive replies they get though...

Yeah it's just a bad look. Social media has to be at the forefront of any large business and what it stands for. There's no amount of money that would warrant those posts.

Just don't follow the page if it irritates you that much.

I was going to post this but in this modern age, Facebook pages etc are something we should be getting right. Personally I don't follow any of that stuff apart from fan pages e.g Spurs away days etc. I generally don't give a shit what any of our players or manger says but I understand that a lot of people do.

I'm not saying it because it annoys me in any way other than the fact that I do some social media contracting myself and know that Spurs could do far better.

What frustrates me is that I understand what it means to run a social media page, and the impact it can have, and I think the club is letting itself down.

Congratulations on discovering yet another – hitherto unknown to many – stick to beat the Club and team with.

The club website used to be quite bad, even before the Social Media age. In the run up to a big game they would put out a story every day for a week about how the team is up for it, looking for a good performance etc etc with interviews galore - then the team would put in a weak performance. They did the same thing this year vs Man Utd, double training and something or other.

In the past, probably, very few used the official site for their news, but this is now broadcast all over their social media sites and it's a bit embarrassing. They can't predict how the team will do, but nor should they set themselves up for a fall.. not sure what the answer is. Post nothing? Get a better team? :D post less but be smarter about it, perhaps.

They just need to put some thought into it and differentiate between actual news, advertising and filler. Stories about Jimmy Greaves yesterday are now buried under Facebook Awards, Spurs Ultimate 11, and a report on yesterday's U21 game. They could have pinned the Greaves bit at the top for a while and let the other junk carry on underneath.

I doubt Spurs are the only ones who do it 'wrong' - Liverpool's home page has a newspaper rumour news item every day, for example, and Chelsea's Social media posts all sorts of rubbish like criticising the refereeing decisions during the game.

I actually think the Facebook page is alright - nice to get regular pictures and videos etc. I don't have any problem with it. The club never gives any information out through any channels so it's hardly fair expecting cutting edge interviews exposing Poch's singular lack of flexibility on the Facebook page.

The biggest problem with Spurs and Facebook is the God-awful collection of 'fan' pages which are very often terrible, talk shite and are generally populated by knuckle-dragging morons abusing players and posting ridiculous lists of players they want to sell/buy.

I know the stories and captions are a bit repetitive and predictable, but what's the alternative?

"Here's a picture of Andros trying to take down a hot air balloon."

"Walker will not feature on Sunday as he recovers from an injury - and won't be missed."

"Ade in training - what a ****."

"After the match Pochettino came up with yet another meaningless placation."

I think the official website and facebook/Twitter pages have a duty to be positive about the club. Leave the complaints to the fans.

The official website and the official social media accounts serve as a propaganda mouthpiece for most football clubs, churning out saccharine, non confrontational nonsense to tow the uber positive PR line that the club is all happy families. Oh and, whilst you're here, why not buy a shirt or a ticket.

Or they are used to break official club announcements to tell the fans that we have bought/sold a player, or that we won't sell a player at any price. But whilst you're here, why not buy a baseball cap, or a ticket.

The point I'm making is that your/my entertainment is pretty far down the list of things that official club websites and social media accounts are about, well behind 'Positive Club PR' and 'Sell lots of shit'...

...which is why we all spend so much time at SC! :)

I think the club is in a difficult position here in that they are not allowed to really have an opinion through their own channels, but agreed there could be some more variation in the content.

Out of interest is it the same style with other clubs?

Personally don't think we've had a rubbish season but our Facebook is useless.

Multiple posts in different languages (rather than setting up separate language accounts); 'WATCH all the highlights' after that Burnley game; etc...

Plenty more in the world to waste frustration on though.

To be fair, the picture of Ade in training was part of a "Spot the git" competition that they were doing, so there was some variation with that...

And I believe there was one caption you missed..."Here's Danny Rose on his 27th bench press set of the day #bigchest"
