I guess the more we bloat the squad, the less leverage we have trying to negotiate with buying clubs. We can't run the risk of getting too desperate to offload players, and having to accept bids massively below their market value, or still paying their wages while on loan just to get them out the club.

End of the day, as @Trix keeps stating, our budget is finite so we still need to maximise what we make on outgoings to allow us more flexibility on purchases.
Indeed but I wonder if we'd lose out on a player we want for the sake of a few days or a week before the papers are signed on some sales. I think we're bloated enough already for clubs to try to take advantage.

Also bear in mind Paratici’s workload. You can’t expect him to be working on more incomings if he’s actively trying to move 4 players out. It’s just not feasible.

3 of the unwanted 4 will go, of that I have no doubt and it’s a matter of when. Clubs will be haggling (Villarreal for GLC) or tying up other deals & exploring other choices. There’s always a domino effect too - player A moves and it sets off a chain reaction.
Imo 2 will go before mid August (GLC and Reguillon if I had to bet) with Winks a bit later. Other outgoings could go to the wire.

I'd be surprised if DL were to let Ndombele go for £10m.
I was thinking we'd probably have to give him away for someone else to afford his wages. Selling outside of the UK is tough right now as these clubs are struggling financially and I just can't see how they could afford both

It will be this or a workaround whereby someone pays £15m but we pay half his wages for three years, I.e works out roughly a free transfer. Even this may be tricky. I was hoping PSG may take him off our hands for cheap as a homegrown squad player but doesn’t seem to be much interest.

I can’t believe this, we have the best stadium in the world, one of the best managers in the world, a world class strike partnership, etc. etc. By all accounts we could be on the cusp of something great yet here we are again having to sell to buy, as usual. Unbelievable.

Except we aren’t in that situation at all. We didn’t have to sell before we bought Forster, Perisic, Bissouma, Richarlison Lenglet or Spence.

There’s been a clear change in the way the club are acting in the market.

I don’t think it’s unreasonable for the club to try and shift some dead wood after that kind of investment.

TURIN -Juventus does not give up Nicolò Zaniolo, but Tottenham is serious and is determined to put the arrow already in the weekend. The appointment between the Giallorossi and Spurs is set for Saturday, in Haifa. José Mourinho's team will challenge Antonio Conte's. But the friendly match in Israel will also be an opportunity to try to overtake the Juventus players, who have been on the front line for months for the 23-year-old all-blue player. After the contacts of recent times, the English director Fabio Paratici will see his Giallorossi colleague Tiago Pinto with the aim of finding a good compromise for Zaniolo. It may not be a decisive summit, but certainly the Londoners are reported increasingly hot on the former Inter. This is due to the work under the radar of two former Juventus players: the sports director Paratici and the coach Antonio Conte. Zaniolo would like to stay in Italy and his preference for Massimiliano Allegri's team is no mystery. The son of art, however, is anything but insensitive to the charm of the Premier League and above all to Conte's charisma. The moves of Tottenham do not stop Juventus, who remain in the running, but they certainly make the path more tortuous and risky. If the Spurs, which at the moment are the most Italian team in the Premier League, were to sink decisively, a change of plans by the blue cannot be ruled out. Zaniolo has not lost his patience and always trusts in a Juventus blitz, but he would not want to wait indefinitely - and in vain - for the Bianconeri. And Milan remains in the background. he is anything but insensitive to the charm of the Premier League and above all to Conte's charisma. Juve situation

At Continassa they are aware of the risks associated with Tottenham and continue to monitor the situation, ready to intervene if necessary to maintain pole position. The interest of Juventus sports director Federico Cherubini is well known. At the end of June the Juventus transfer man met Pinto in great secrecy. Since that time the two clubs have begun to evaluate different formulas. From the onerous loan (10 million) with right / obligation to redeem starting from 2023 (30-40 million plus bonuses) to an exchange of loans: Zaniolo at Juventus for one between Arthur and Zakaria at the court of Mourinho. If the first hypothesis does not convince the Juventus managers, so far the Trigoria parties have not opened up to the possibility of widening the table with the inclusion of a technical counterpart. The distance is not short, but it can be bridged. Especially if the player continues not to renew the contract expiring in 2024. Not to mention that the landing in Rome of the former Juventus player Paulo Dybala, hired by the Giallorossi after the release from Juventus, would make a divorce from Zaniolo easier and less painful. Anything can still happen. Tottenham permitting

We've simply moved on to phase 2 of the window, outgoings.

Totally disagree with this. Others have said what needed to be said, but I think it’s sensible personally

He's on between 120k and 200k per week (depending on what the extras are - for example it might be 200k if the team qualify for the CL). Keeping him for another year could cost us £10M and have a bad egg around the place. So the difference in selling him for £10M and keeping him is £20M (i.e. we'd be £20M worse off if we keep him). My point is that we could sell him on the cheap and break even on NET spend whilst opening up more places on the squad for players we do want (like Zaniolo)

The outgoing and incoming programmes run concurrently. The extra investment provided means they are not dependant on each other. Of course we can’t have a bloated squad and need to shift the outs. Seems to be going ok to me, there was always going to be a lot of movement for the outs towards the end of the window as clubs get desperate.

I think you know you are going to wind people up. We just brought in 6 new players without offloading first. That is amazing execution by the club.

However, we now need to make some space in the squad for any additional buys. We already have 21 senior players who are not locally trained (and can only name 17 in the CL squad). If we buy Zaniolo, which 5 players are you going to leave out? Three are easy - Lo Celso, Ndombele and Reguilon. Who are the other 2 going to be?

Seems pretty obvious to me that this post is tongue in cheek. Even flagged it up with *ducks*. But seems that it went over others' heads.

Or maybe it's me who has got it wrong?
