Adama Traore with a bit more end product...

Looks extremely strong on the ball, great control and quick...

A great compliment to Deki and if he can bring his vision and final product close to Deki levels, he could be an excellwmt arrow to add to our quiver.

This feels like your beginning to change your stance on this one.
Going from "he's shit", to "he may be OK if the fee is right", in a few days?!
Working on the start of a backtrack?
???
I never said he was shit, I had been following the news closely and Juve were being quoted £55m for him. I assumed we were discussing a similar fee for him, and yes for that much it would imo be a shit signing at least shit value.

I watched a couple of games of him against Leicester and Inter but briefly against Inter, he loses possession quite a bit but normally due to the fact he's marked by 2-3 players but one on one which he didn't get many or no opportunities I think he could be very dangerous due to how Very quick, very strong, good control and touch for a big man he has. He was pretty quiet in the 2 semis against Leicester but JM was equally as non-existent - JM didn't really step up in those games. Just wasn't a meaningful contributor, compared to Pellegrini who was much better and more involved, that's a player. Pretty disappointed watching JM in those semis I really like still think he's a good player but was no where near what you would expect from a top player in such big games.

For me NZ should be playing up front he does take up central positions but it was mixed bag positionally, he was neither on the wing or in the middle but because of his strength, power and speed, he should be central. He's wasted on the wing. Just my non-expert opinion

If Conte wants him I've got no issue but then I hope Conte is going to be at Spurs for a 3-4 year period to get the best out of the players we've signed for him

Yeah, I'm only pulling your leg because you've been quite vocally against him so far but that pre-season compilation made him look the perfect fit for us, possibly moreso than Maddison, for all his advantages like hg etc.
This lad does look to have some of the Moose qualities that we've been after for so long and could even suit a 2 with Yves for certain games.

Could well be an astute signing.

That comp is the only bit of him I’ve seen, and based on that he isn’t a complement to Deki, he is Deki.

Dunno why people are talking about wanting a dembele type player at RW…. Dembele for all his qualities was pretty poor in the final 3rd so I don’t want that all. Plus dembele was a progressive CM, we’ll be signing him to play RW with Kulu.

Was this you mate?

Would be a fantastically stupid signing.

Jesus wept. He has more red flags than a Chinese parade.

This is a really poor signing from where I'm sitting, sorry to say.

ignoring the awful injury record (which is enough of a factor to not sign him anyways)

-2 goals, 5 assists in Serie A last year... 6 goals, 2 assists in Serie A in 19/20
-runner, dribbler, but plays with his head down (very common complaint from Roma fans)
-not as quick as he once was, uses strength more, tall but lacking explosiveness
-SLOW decision maker, this can't be emphasized enough. Poor vision, needs time to sort his thoughts out
-Not a central player, mainly a winger
-Very one footed (left footed)

You may not have said the exact words “he’s shit,” but it’s pretty clear from your hyperbole earlier this week that you think he is.

I didn't say I want a Dembele type player at right wing, that would be stupid.
What I said was that he shows some Dembele style qualities and may well suit a midfield 2.
But, with that being said, he also appears to have a better final ball than Dembo and can score too.

He appears to be very versatile so I'm not as sure as you seem to be that we'd sign him just for the rw, I think he could play anywhere from cm up.

Glad I have some fans on here (y)

i stand by all of that really, for £55m or so it would be a stupid signing as he does have a lot of red flags. I thought he was going for that money. We cannot pay £55m for maybes, that fee is reserved for a sure thing, a contributor who will immediately improve the side immensely, someone we can rely on to produce almost unquestionably.

Did you read the rest of my posts in the thread when more details about the fee and structure were released? I believe I have been reasonable all along about who he is and what he is.

Yeah, but most of your posts were before there was any fee mentioned, let alone 55m. :bored:

Here is the thing - if he is selfish and does not pass, especially to Conte's patterns, he will not play. Conte must be confident he can get the best out of any player he signs. 6.3" powerhouse of a player who can beat his man and open up a defence.

The price tag that’s been widely reported has been 50m euros which is around £42m.

Put it this way, he needs a lot of seasoning… Kulusevski is clearly better than him now, was clearly better in Serie A, and Zaniolo is a rather similar player positionally, although obviously different player profiles. The injuries are red flags, the output is as well, but I don’t mind either of those as much as I do the questionable decision-making and head-down dribbling he does.

Someone like Maddison otoh… he has proven his worth, scoring and assisting 20 in the PL last year, plus he’s an elite set piece taker, plus he’s HG, plus he can play in an attacking CM role more easily than a Zaniolo could. That solves 3-4 immediate issues in our squad. Zaniolo solves fewer.

I do think he’s got great potential but is our timeline long enough to accompany his development? He’s not going to start weekly, which he desperately needs. Conte doesn’t stick around for long without success, Kane and Son are approaching 30, we need to challenge for the PL and trophies. Not in two years, NOW. For huge fees, we need someone who can be counted on to immediately produce.

I was seeing €60m for Juve the week before. Tons of Italian stories saying that was the fee being bandied about which is around £53m iirc. So I wasn’t getting direct Spurs info but also wasn’t making it up, the Juve rumours were very widespread.

To be fair mate, you did the exact same thing in the Richarlison thread.

I couldn’t be arsed if he miskicked every ball and had the touch of 2022 Lukaku.

That’s the physical presence, both speed and aerially, we’ve been missing up front. It’s Richarlison in the flesh. Can name maybe 5 forwards in world football who can run in behind, play with their back to goal, and challenge defenders aerially in duels like he does . So difficult to defend.

A complete 180 after we had signed the player.

Either you're making a massive overreaction at the beginning cause you don't like the player, or you are talking yourself into it at over a period of time?

Lol. Probably spot on when it comes to overreaction. I don’t like Richy’s personality or diving, and he had just played pretty poorly vs. Arsenal so, yeah.

Then again, surely I’m not the only poster whose opinions have changed over time.

That’s 3 of you now who are stalking my old posts on a Saturday afternoon…
