It certainly doesn’t look good whatsoever.

Just my take on things, I think all the current evidence is suggesting that this deal is either dead or will be exorbitantly expensive. Obviously, I know fuck all, just as much as you and every non ITK on here. But you have to admit, it isn’t exactly sounding rosy.
Agreed, particularly as trix really isn’t confident.

I would say that the fact that we are still negotiating - despite Roma digging their heels in and despite whatever price it is that they are demanding - is at least a pretty decent sign. For starters, it suggests that Conte really wants him and that we are therefore prepared to pay a significant amount. It also suggests that Paratici / Levy have a reasonable hope that we will get him.

Every time we talk to an Italian club there’s seems to be at least one of these U-turns thrown in. Sometimes it’s just saving face publicly, sometimes it’s posturing for a little more money, and sometimes it’s a genuine change of stance that ends the deal.

Paratici is very capable of figuring out which of those it, and more importantly, proving to Conte that we actually tried to sign the player he wanted. Pivoting away from the manager’s preferred targets at the first sign of trouble to sign a player the board preferred instead is peak Levy behavior and hopefully we’ve moved past that now.

Yeah this isn't happening imo.
I get that feeling too. And that's OK by me. I don't feel a burning desire to get a left foot attacker instead of him either.

The fantastic thing about this window, is there are no gaping holes in the squad, or the team.

In an absolutely ideal world, we're probably a CCB and a RWF/CM light.

If the 100% right player is available - position, quality, age, fit, price - then we've shown we'll pull the trigger. But we don't have a bottomless pit of cash, and otherwise I'm comfortable with where we are.

It's a sterling job they've done this summer.

I think we’ll have a more definitive answer once one or more of our overseas players have left, as Hercules suggests.

I’m surprised that Gio hasn’t been part of negotiations up until now. Jose was very positive about him at times when he was with us, saying something along the lines of, “why would I want Bruno Fernandes (?) when I have Lo Celso.” Maybe I’ve got that completely wrong, but I’m sure he said that in a Sky Sports interview once.

Even if this one didn't work out. Who else out there fits the criteria for what Conte wants. Big, physical, dribbler, technical ability and a runner and left footed. There really aren't many who fit that profile, hence why the second choice options were Paqueta and then Maddison. There really aren't many left footed dribblers who are big and physical.

I can see this one possibly going till the end of the window, if it's someone Conte wants, then I can see there being no deadline for this one.

Based on our previous transfer windows the term “unacceptable” IS unacceptable. Seriously mate I get that you might be disappointed but to say it’s unacceptable after the business we’ve done and how early we’ve done it, I think you need to sit back and read you post again, slap yourself on the willly and wank rather than post. ?
The doc has just prescribed what is technically known in the medical field as a winky wanky woo -

Zaniolo signs it's a fantastic (possibly best ever) transfer window..... he doesn't it's a very good transfer window..... absolute microbe of a difference really..... maybe it opens an opportunity for devine to get a few minutes.... it really all works well for spurs now and or in the future ... am very ambivalent about whether we get him...

After the Spence photos that leaked I don't know if it means much if the club distance themselves, they probably want to plug the leaks anyway

Or, possibly - and hear me out here, maybe multi million pound transfers are incredibly complex and take a lot of time. And, yes due to the complexities sometimes they fall through.
Doesn't mean it will happen doesn't mean it won't happen.
Maybe, possibly, sensitive negotiations don't lend themselves to hourly updates.....
