Why? Trix said about 4 hours ago we are still in talks, he also said he had a solid source on this so let’s wait and see.
Trix also said this week, and I quote:

“Roma being pretty resolute with their demands. Don't see us matching them, so unless there is pressure from the player this may not happen.”

So that’s not exactly a positive sign. But for me when Ally Gold says something that definitive I usually take it as gospel. All the tea leaves are blowing the wrong direction on this one.

I agree it’s looking pretty bleak. However as much as I like Ally he isn’t really at the forefront for news. He literally said nothing was close and we signed Spence two hours later.

He didn't say anything definitively. He said keep an eye on it as we've been interested in him for years but when he's asked the club they distance themselves from it. Same with James Maddison

I sense this deal will fall through. Zaniolo more likely will sign an improved contract with Roma. Not sure if we have alternative options or that we are willing to wait for other options.

Personally I feel Eze or Zaha from palace would be suitable alternatives. I'm sure people have better names.
Did you watch them against Arsescum. They were both shite

Olise is the player I’d be wanting from Palace. He’s some talent.

Yes and I've also said for a while we were quite a way apart and I felt it was unlikely, but yes we were still talking as of this morning.

Cheers! I wasn’t trying to say you had made it sound likely just that it isn’t completely dead.

Thanks Trix as always. I wonder if we do move on after this week then if it’s going no where. We are definitely a CB and a forward short as it stands.

There's going to be a compromise somewhere for this deal to happen. Seeing as all parties involved want this to happen.

I think it's going to be something along the lines of a bigger loan fee with an option to buy. Similar to the Deki deal.

Nothing is definitive, it is not done and it is not dead. It's called negotiation, we want him but we aren't desperate to buy and they are willing to sell but are not desperate to sell, there's no sword of Damocles hanging over anyone so it will meander to a conclusion it won't rush. It's important to remember that we've been told there are no deadlines with this one and there's a reason for that.
Not sure if Zaniolo is the icing on the cake or the cherry on the top but either way the cake is already perfectly fine.

For better or for worse it would be best if we get a definitive answer this week. Either pay the money or move on.

We need another attacking option, whether it’s Zaniolo or someone else. I’m concerned that this kid might be FP/AC’s white whale, I really hope we have a back up option because leaving this until deadline day and ending up empty handed would be totally unacceptable.
Based on our previous transfer windows the term “unacceptable” IS unacceptable. Seriously mate I get that you might be disappointed but to say it’s unacceptable after the business we’ve done and how early we’ve done it, I think you need to sit back and read you post again, slap yourself on the willly and wank rather than post. ?

Sounds like we're proposing a very similar deal, both fee and structure, to the one we did with Juve for Kulusevski. That worked for Juve as they were desperate for cash to bring in Vlahovic and also had the guaranteed fee for Bentancur, but sounds like Roma aren't as eager to sell and we don't have as much leverage.

Surely Trix’s latest post is more pertinent than anything he wrote earlier this week?

As to Ally saying “something definitive”, I haven’t heard or read his exact wording but it was described in this thread as “the club are playing down any links to Zaniolo”.

Quite apart from the fact that playing something down isn’t definitive at all, I read that simply as the club are trying to keep a lid on how this negotiation is going.

Certainly, I’ve read nothing yet to suggest that it really is time for us to give up any hope of signing Zaniolo.

It certainly doesn’t look good whatsoever.

Just my take on things, I think all the current evidence is suggesting that this deal is either dead or will be exorbitantly expensive. Obviously, I know fuck all, just as much as you and every non ITK on here. But you have to admit, it isn’t exactly sounding rosy.
