Whatever they decide to do, I think chelsea will move quick with both their top targets currently without clubs. I don’t know how that will affect us, because we’re always so fucking slow with these things, but hopefully it’s a good thing.

It’s annoying seeing other clubs publicly move for their managers but our supposed #1 target is in a job fighting for a possible treble and doesn’t want to leave before end of the season.
So I don’t think we’re going to be hearing to much just yet.

If he's our first choice then we can't do anything about that. No point hiring the wrong coach just to hurry things up.

We were a bloody good team under Poch , one of the best around, the team had peaked though and needed rebuilding.

We went for the quick fix though and brought in Mourinho and we have been paying for it ever since.

In Conte and Mourinho you have two coaches that burn everything around them if they have to protect their reputation. We knew what we were getting and I can't totally blame the board because I was on board with Conte and could see the sense in Jose but when they didn't get the players they wanted it was over. They would bury their gran to protect their name .

Let's not forget before these two 'winners' came in we were champions league regulars , had reached countless semi finals, a couple of finals, had smashed teams like Real Madrid and Dortmund in Europe.

And now the staff turnover is huge, I think Conte got 14 new players ? Saying that all the players have a bad attitude is just lazy convenient thinking.

A positive coach, who enthuses over the club, the players and the fans will give us all a totally different outlook on our team, I promise you. We haven't had that in so long now and a portion of the fanbase has been gaslit by social media trolls into thinking the man who gave us it -Poch is a loser because he didn't get us over the line to win a trophy.

I don't know whether him coming back would work or not but just look at man utd with ten hag, look at the scum with Arteta, look at the Saudis with Howe ( they haven't spent that much yet ) . A positive, switched on coach who wants to be there, wants the chance and wants to bring everyone with him can soon turn the feeling, the attitude and the whole club around

We actually tried for Nagelsmann and rodgers before Mourinho but they didn’t want to leave at that point or turned us down point blank. We then went to Mourinho out of desperation. So we did actually look to make the right move but panicked and ducked it up. So I wouldn’t say we will fuck it up again now if we get the choice we want. Trouble is, we will be shopping in the same market as Chelsea and while they aren’t the same club as under abrahamovich they are still an equally attractive one.

Unfortunately Levy missed the boat on clearing out Conte completely and possibly getting a new manager bounce with just having Mason. I'm not saying it would be any different just change is needed and he even ballsed that up.

But that's a debate for another thread.....

Wasn't it Matt Law who tweeted that absolute nonsense about JN being some kind of Spurs fan?
Do these things even mean anything? Even if there was a photo of him as a kid in full Spurs regalia stood next to Glenn Hoddle, it's no guarantee that would form part of his decision making.

Exactly. Fans always so short-termist.

Also Chelsea have no short term objectives. They are unlikely to even make europa conference places at this points. Any coach coming in will have time to bed in his ideas without being immediately judged on short term results of trying to make top 4 like us. It's a totally different context.

That’s completely fair and I understand where you’re coming from.

I just can’t see anyone else decent wanting to join us.

It’s such a shit situation, I think we’re going to take a long time to be on the up again.

I don't see this bleak outlook at all. There's the infrastructure, the fan base, the player spending is competitive, a Top 4 squad with need for an overhaul. Big salary. It's all set up for someone to succeed.

I'm sorry to break it to you but no way are either of these 2 coming to Spurs, whatever we bid/offer. Better options for them assured and this will be the case for most of the players who will be bandied around.

We're talking hypothetical here cos I doubt Poch is coming either.

summary of managerial search

we’re interested in Kompany

Nagelsmann, Enrique, De Zerbi, Slot, Frank mentioned by name

De Zerbi seemingly not interested in swapping his stable project at Brighton for our… well

Potter and Rodgers both of interest in the past, but both will most likely have fallen down in the pecking order. Levy has also decided against rodgers in the past

curlacious

Don’t look at me. I’m irrelevant.

Leeds wanted Slot - do you think that's a positive indicator or a negative? Do they have good manager spotting talent? I though Jesse M would do well, but turned out not so much.

"Some fans believe that Cullen might be playing a role in ensuring Pochettino doesn’t return to the club. The two are reported to have shared a bit of a strained relationship because the Argentine gaffer wasn’t pleased with her having a ‘business first’ mentality and meddling with certain affairs.
Pochettino also seems to direct some public annoyance towards how Cullen operates in 2018 when asked to comment on the director stating he was ‘relaxed’ with Spurs’ slow transfer activity that year. He had said: “I’m not relaxed because I’m a coach and you cannot be relaxed. I think you need to be confident and trust in the people we have and the way that we work.”
The Argentine manager had also reportedly had an argument about scheduling the ‘All or Nothing” documentary and allowing cameras to follow around his Spurs squad before his eventual sacking in 2019."

Brighton and Leeds both really wanted Gallardo so Leeds obviously have good taste, if they wanted Slot as well I wouldn’t take it as a negative.
