Can’t tell if you’re agreeing with me, disagreeing with me, or missed my point altogether….

Maybe it was a bit subtle -

My point is that if Levy & co aren’t going to provide the new manager with players to suit a fixed system, then they absolutely must look for a manager capable of working with what they’re given - the irony here (and my point) being that Levy & co have their own system, but have been guilty of rigid inflexibility which has had a detrimental effect on the progress of the team.

They seem to want the manager to demonstrate a willingness to change their own approach for the good of the team, when they are reluctant to change theirs for that same reason.

They can’t have it both ways - If they want a manager who will ‘work with what they have’ then they should rule out so-called ‘serial winners’ who assemble a team, and focus their efforts on recruiting someone who is a better cultural fit, willing to develop one.
Yes, agree 100%

You've put forward a balanced set of reasons why you think `Enrique isn't your choice, just out of interest, who are you leaning more towards?
Yes, of course. That's just the numbers but deeper down he has had multiple issues within clubs he has been at also. I don't believe for one minute he will be the guy we get anyway if I am honest.

I would like Marcelo Gallardo or Roger Schmidt. That's my personal top 2, Gallardo feels like someone that could work under the restrictions Levy usually sets. As for Schmidt, he just has an absolutely great attacking style.

I think whoever the club hire next, the club should take a step back and do what has worked best for them in the past.
Buy young exciting players, with potential, and a manager/coach who is happy to work with them.
It will likely cost us Harry Kane as it’ll be a more long term project. But instant success is too expensive for us.

If we are in CL again next season, I don't think we will take a step back. We will have to push forward with players that are capable of playing at that level.

We already have a number of young players on the cusp - Skipp, Sarr, Udogie, Kulusevski - all 22 and under. Even Richarlison, Romero, Porro, Royal, and Bentancur are all 25 and under. Even Bissouma is just 26. That is a good young core to build around - but you can't go too young.

Of course it's possible to win leagues with "defensive" set up even in modern Premier League.
I'm not so sure about winning leagues with such an error prone roster like Lloris, Dier, Sanchez and so on.
The PL has changed so much in the last few years that winning it with defensive football is gonna be harder and harder. VAR means you can’t spoil games as effectively, and the financial power of the league in Europe means there are better players spread all the way down it. You’re best bet at accruing points is to control games and keep the ball and the opposition as far away from yours as possible.

We have gone with European and league winners in Jose, Ramos, AVB, Conte

Had motivators such as Redknapp and Sherwood

It doesn't matter what we do we always fail.

I'd like to see Kompany at Spurs. He was a brilliant captain and thinker of the game. He is well respected amongst footballers too.
Calling Sherwood a motivator is something I thought I’d never see!

The more I think about it, the less I think it will be Poch.

If levy reappoints Poch he’s basically admitting the last 3 or 4 years have been an utter failure that’s all his fault. He’s not going to do that.
Wasn’t he going hard for Poch when we ended up with Nuno?

It's probably unrelated, but Gallardo is in London, or was in London last friday.
This girl took a pic with him at Heathrow. He was arriving, not leaving

Whoever the next Manager is I’d really just like for them to bring a much more positive uplifting cando attitude and energy to the club.

Jose : style of play was dull and negative and he alienated and annoyed a lot of the players and generally he brings a bit of a dark cloud over the clubs he manages or at least he certainly leaves one behind when he goes

Nuno : couldn’t give more than a 30 second interview and every one was monotonous and club spun PR about making us proud, he was well out of his depth tactically and the players or fans didn’t buy into him at all

Conte : 1st season he brought an initial good uplifting energy to the club with his passionate celebrations and touch line behaviour and dragged us from 9th to 4th, he did at times however get very emotional and negative like after the Burnley game. This season ofc he’s had personal issues but we’ve also seen the 2nd/3rd season Conte who blames everyone but himself, makes out his achievements are a miracle, digs out the fans as if the job and club are beneath him, he preaches time and patience whilst not committing to a longer term deal himself and ofc on the whole the style of play has been very boring.

We can see who a positive style of play and a more likeable can do positive manager can galvanise a team and club and drive them forwards, the players and fans enjoy things more, a better atmosphere is built and momentum is built and performances improve.

Poch did that with us, Klopp did it at Liverpool, Arteta is doing it at Arsenal.

So whether the answer is Poch back or De Zerbi or big Ange etc etc I think the new manager HAS to be someone who can bring a much more positive enjoyable vibe on and off the pitch.

This will make the fans and players happy and we will likely play better and achieve more as a result. The fans and club are absolutely crying out for some positivity and that has to start with/from the manager imo.
