Hmm..would be interesting given their playing staff. Would he be able to get that lot to work? You'd think someone like Fat Sam would be more likely to get something out of all the dogshit big time charlies they've bought as he's had a fair few fancy dans play well under him before.

I think Harry Redknapp is the only man that will prevent Sunderland from going down. He will get his old friend Defoe firing.

Sunderland look like an absolute mess. They've just cobbled together a team of players who messed up at previous clubs or who simply aren't very good. I can't really see what any new manager is going to do there unless they've got some decent young players. I suppose Allardyce will end up there and sign Kevin Nolan.

As for Newcastle, their line up looked very odd against City. I know we don't have many defensive midfielders ourselves, but when they are having to play Goufrann there you know there are issues. I think they may edge up the table eventually, but they need some points pretty soon. With the likes of Bournemouth and Watford picking up points, they could be off the pace very early on.

How do you know they're friends?
Well I haven't heard they're enemies, so I'm assuming that over the 4 years that Harry was his manager, they built up a reasonable liking for each other in a professional friendship. More than enough to call them 'old freinds.'

But can we call working relationships friendships? Could a manager and player in this situation be considered friends? Would they spend any time outside of work together? What actually constitutes being 'friends'?

Well I admit, they probably were never friends in the traditional sense,
but as good as friends can be between a manager and his player.

No worries mate, just think we should be careful before branding people friends, y'know?

He could just make them train in Bournemouth.

But seriously - it was stated as impossible when we did it. Do we think Newcastle would be able to achieve the same?

we had Luca Modric, Aaron Lennon, The king, Micheal Dawson, Woodgate, (Gareth Bale who I don't think played much) we only need a few players to get champs league. I think Personally Newcastle are fucked Sunderland have had 2 managers a season for a while now. Personally I don't think either deserves to be in the league they do things the wrong way and its a matter of time before it catches up on them.

I think Big Sam is a better fit. He's tough enough to crack down on the players who aren't being professional, he's ex-Sunderland, he'll make their defence a lot more solid and they've already got a decent target man in Steven Fletcher (if he can stay fit) who would thrive on the Allerderchi masterplan.

I was speaking to my brother-in-law over the weekend about the chances of Defoe returning to Bournemouth in January. Would be a direct replacement for the injured Callum Wilson, he'll be the big fish in a small pond again (like he was in Toronto), and will be playing in front of a crowd that will actually appreciate him.

I think it's way more likely than Harry going to Sunderland.

I cant see Harry wanting the Hassel of Newcastle or Sunderland, maybe Bournemouth job if it came up and he had some money but really cant see him wanting another disaster run club like QPR.

Sunderland just seem to have so little at the back and just not enough elsewhere to make up for it. If they are going to stay up, they need a manager who can do alot with so little. I dont know if Big Sam can do it. I certainly would not trust Harry after essentially relegating QPR twice and putting them in an even more dire financial state. Dyche has proven he can do alot with alittle after almost keeping Burnley up and getting them huge results. But lets be honest here. Leaving them after Burnley not sacking him in the summer even when he openly flirted with the Sunderland job originally would probably not sit well with many owners for future management opportunities. And rightfully, IMO, he rejected them today.

So whose left? I've seen Laudrup and Rodgers being mooted. Would be terrible appointments and just going for the big name instead of who can actually keep them up. It would serve them well to not only bring someone in who can keep them up but can also advance the club next season so that they arent in this position again. There really are not many options out there with any name recognition. IMO, they should think outside the box here after the Dyche rejection.
