But but but, I thought Newcastle now had a better squad than us with all the signings they'd made?

Yes, funny how a month/6 weeks ago there were a lot on here slitting their wrists how the likes of Newcastle and others were showing us how it should be done and getting on with making signings (though admittedly it may have been the transfer junkie shit****s who only pop up when the ITK forums are open).

Changes quickly.

So here we go...

Both Sunderland and Newcastle have 3pts after 8 games.

Anyone see either of them staying up?

Sunderland I can't but newcastle have played Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal and Man City, last seasons top 4. So its still bit early to judge

I'm pleased Newcastle are struggling, be careful what you wish for. This is the fans fault, they bascially pushed a decent manager in Pardew out of the door.

TBF the criticism of Pardew was fair. He would always play a second rate team in the cups whilst not really giving it a go in the league either. A club like Newcastle should be aiming to win silverware rather being happy to finish mid table

Wasn't he following the owners instructions?

I was going to say exactly that, think he done about all he could under Mike Ashley. Pardew not to blame for the chairmans lack of ambition. Any decent player they had was sold the minute they reach a decent value and replaced with a cheaper/poorer alternative. He's only spent money this season because the fans put him under huge pressure to do so.

Should they? Well supported club no doubt but they've been saying the same for 60 years now. I know us Spurs fans are guilty of living in the past at times Newcastle take the piss! The youngest fan to see them win an actual trophy and remember it would be about 70 by now.

In regards to europa league yes but the fans(some of my family) were desperate for a cup run in the carling cup and Fa Cup

I agree but worth noting that the 90's made them feel like a top club and they were in the CL 10/12 years ago(long time agreed). However from their pov from what I understand from my family. They know they aren't a top club but when they aren't in trouble of relegation which they weren't under pardew bar the EL season, why not play a strong side in the CC or FA cup as they aware thats the best it will get

No, fair enough and I don't mind the Barcodes as such. My view of them is coloured somewhat by having the cockiest sonuvabitch Barcode acquaintance at uni, during those CL years, Most other Barcodes I've met have been rather sound tbf.

My ideal top flight would have them in it no doubt but then I'd also have Derby and Forest in their too. Kerist, I'm getting on.

But yeah, Newcastle should be a club that should be comfortably mid-table but have the resources to go all guns blazing in the cups. I concede.

I just miss the days when cup games were special. They were different from league games. There was electricity in the air very often. I visceral buzz. Two teams going hammer and tongs in the freezing cold.

I think when you are at the level the barcodes at, those cup games can be special look at us with the worthington cup. The year Ginola won it is actually one of the more happier moments in our mid90's-early00's history.

As for the smaller clubs, I like to say I hate leeds a lot but a small part of me does miss them in the PL. The feeling of beating those arseholes was great.

It felt like a win for football now, when leeds lose you almost feel sorry for them before realising what ****s their fans are

Yep. Dirty Leeds would be one of the 20 despite what absolute arseholes their fans are. Their teams weren't all that dirty anyhoo, David Batty aside, in more recent times. But the top flight wouldn't be complete without them.

Not sure the Lancashire/Yorkshire police mind there not being annual meetings of Yanited and Leeds fans these last few years though.

And yeah, that LC was great. Not least because that complete shitstain Lily and his cheating was for nought!
