yeah I dont think that is the main concrete facility for the site...they are pretty big things..nothing like that there yet.

Also they have to go much deeper for the foundations for the basement I think

not sure they will be going much deeper. if you look at the pics for the new stadium ground floor looks pretty raised up from ground level

Dig deeper and find a dinosaur or some historical roman site .... or the first human ever .... or some alien .... or something to put the stadium on hold for 100 years!

At least Levy could charge an extra admission fee to see the new find.

That would be so Spursy!

Is Spursy a verb? It should be. Spursy ... ha ha it is .... http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Spursy

I'd have thought they will be, if you take into account the need to have a full basement level beneath two pitches, and beneath all of that the foundations for a pretty bloody heavy football stadium. I'd imagine that's pretty deep.

Loads more machinery onsite today. A second big red crane thing (technical term) and what might be some sort of machinery for pouring concrete. Looks as if it's gathering pace. Can one of our construction experts confirm what all this stuff is?

It's a crane and a concrete pourer. :)

The crane isn't that big, looks like its just there to place the concrete materials silos. Next big thing (I would've thought) would be the piling rigs.

I'd say LA Yiddo is correct. They appear to be setting up a batching plant for the concrete. The piling will probably start fairly soon.

I reckon you'll see a number of different pile rigs as I would think they'd have a mixture. If you look to the left of the picture, it looks like they've levelled off for the piling platforms.

It might be a few weeks though, as they'll have to calibrate the batching plant and get some trial mixes done. Then they have to test the cubes for strength. That will take 7 days just for the preliminary reports. If they wait to see what the 28 day results are, it'll be over a month before they start piling. They might take the risk on the 7 day results, especially if they are greater than 70% of the target strength, but the Contractor will take the risk on that, especially if they can save 21 days+ on the program, that's a huge overhead saving.

We will see I guess. If they start piling in the next 4 weeks then I reckon they will have accepted the risk.

if you have sources inside the club then let Rob or A&C know, quite a claim to make
To be fair, quite a few of us in this thread have speculated exactly that based on how quickly things were moving. I suspect if the new plans get approved by the end of the year, the club will announce that this will be the last season in the lane.

Quite possibly, I said at the end of last year that I couldn't see any reason to delay judging by where we were with the build but then the club announced it will be two years so I figured that must be the case, why else would they say it.
I guess though that they couldn't pre judge the planning permission but if that does go through smoothly Maybe they can move sooner, I wouldn't be surprised if the club has some preliminary setup with Wembley.
Maybe I'm just being hopeful but from my layman point of view it seems pretty clear that the build will get to a point where it has to stop whilst we finish our second season fixtures and that would waste months.

I think the 2 year thing was the club being cautious. Things in the grounds really seem to be progressing quickly. If they can take down Archway cleanly and get that lot on par with the rest of the ground, all that really leaves is the new plans being approved. If that gets approved by the end of the year, there really is a good chance we'll be out of the lane after this season i think and hopefully in Wembley for the next 2 years or so.

Just an idle thought... supposing completion of build missed its deadline such that it spread into a new season. Say, making the new stadium unavailable for a certain period. Would home fixtures be rearranged as away fixtures for a certain period? Would that in and of itself give us an unfair advantage of sorts? I think there is a precedent for a small number of fixtures to rearranged in such a way with other clubs. For example, would it be allowed for a month or so but no longer? Just wondering!

There'd have to be a real serious delay for that to happen. If it's Contractor caused then they'd accelerate, i.e. Increase the plant & labour force to speed up the work. Expensive but would be a lot cheaper than the liquidated damages for a 60000 seater stadium. The LD's would reflect the lost revenue, which would be millions each week. That's how Multiplex went pop with Wembley, the LD's decimated them.

I highly doubt that you would see a delay into the next season. No Contractor could afford it. Besides, there are a number of companies out there who specialise in stadia, Sir Robert McAlpine is one, they did the Emirates and the O2 Arena. Very good at what they do, I worked on the O2 with them, top company. Get someone like them and you're more likely to see the Stadium delivered early.

Lost track with the stadium news over the summer cos of my wedding and the transfer thread, so can someone be kind enough to confirm to me where we are?

I remember there was a Council meeting to discuss those semi-listed buildings we want to knock down so that we can widen the pavement in one section. Was a decision made on that?

Also, is it right the plans for the new design will be decided on in December?

The meeting you recall was a 'pre-planning meeting where Spurs 'socialised' the plan to get feedback - and was at the same time as a series of local meetings to get local residents feedback.

There is a planning meeting tomorrow Monday 7th where the stadium will be on the agenda for discussion (but no decisions), and maybe the meeting which acknowledges Spurs have submitted the final plans (which they said at the 'pre-planning meeting' would be in mid September). http://www.minutes.haringey.gov.uk/ieListDocuments.aspx?CId=728&MId=7352

Elsewhere on the Harringey site it is said that there are weekly meetings with council officials to discuss details, and that it is expected that the proposals will go to a full planning meeting in December to get a decision..

Edit :
Also note that 500 White Hart Lane is being redeveloped and is described by Harringey as
'Potential site for off site affordable provision for the Spurs stadium scheme'
