NFL academy opening in Barnet. Franchise is a matter of when not if imo

Hard not to agree with you tbh. I still think there a long way off, perhaps the NFL will trial a few more matches over here in addition to the ones that are already guaranteed before making the decision.

We will definitely be first in line of course and another way for ENIC to increase the value. I wonder if it would share our name with our logo? Too far ahead to even think of that I suppose.

Flying in for the match with my rucksack hand luggage on Sunday. Is there anywhere to drop your bag near the stadium that doesn't meet their A4 see through requirements?

There’s a bag drop by the school over near the south east corner.

Think it’s £10 a bag.

Good interview with the lead architect from Populous of the stadium on Football Ramble today in their ramble meets series. Around 40 minutes long.

Anyone know when phase 3 of the build starts? Do we still need planning permission for hotel/flats etc?

For that to go to a ground that hasn't even hosted a rugby match yet - in the same city as Twickenham, no less - is a huge coup.

Agree, does seem odd when, like you say, they've got Twickenham right there. Does it maybe come down to corporate facilities I wonder? No idea what the corporate is like at Twickenham but I assume it's old/outdated now compared to ours so could be one factor I suppose.

If/when it does happen, I doubt the name will have anything to do with the football club. For a start, it would just be a bad idea for marketing reasons. Hardly anyone in America/around the world has heard of Tottenham the place, whereas "London" is one of the most famous cities in the world, so it's a no brainer to call them the "London Somethingorothers".

Also, and perhaps more importantly, the main reason for putting a team in London is to grow the brand in the UK and Europe. Therefore it would be a spectacularly daft idea to call the team "the Tottenham Hotspurs" because you'd instantly alienate 90% of the target market i.e. anyone who isn't a Spurs fan, just like if they called the team "The Arsenal Gunners" or something, I'm sure most of our fans would be extremely reluctant to support them even if you like the sport.

2 most interesting bits from that interview for me were:
The stadium has 50% more floor space than the emirates.
60k is the sweet spot for a new stadium then you start to lose views and atmosphere.

It would alienate 90% of our fanbase if they called them Tottenham Hotspurs. Lol

Dunno about atmospher. Was in madrid when we lost to them. In the home bit up in the gods and the noise was deafening.

I know, but if they were going to call it anything to do with the club, it would definitely be The Tottenham Hotspurs, even though it's wrong.

Like i say though, that'll never happen anyway. More than likely it'll end up being something naff along the lines of London Knights/Monarchs/Royals/Kings etc. unfortunately.

Why not the "London Hotspurs"
Covers both playing at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and being from London

The NFL don't give a flying fuck about THFC and there's zero benefit to them calling the team something after us. In fact, there's a whopping great downside to it as I mentioned in my earlier post. Given that the entire exercise is just a way to grow the brand in the UK, why on earth would they decide to instantly alienate 90% of the target market purely so that they can give a cheeky nod to Spurs fans? It just doesn't make any sense. They want to make money, they don't care about Spurs in the slightest, it's just a mutually beneficial relationship.

If they did move a franchise (which would be complicated in itself) it would just be the london 'franchise name'. Whether that be jaguars, patriots, rams etc...
