Since writing at lunchtime that there were 'a few' tickets available for West Han through the exchange, the club's obviously released a batch of new seats not taken up by season ticket holders. Seats in most blocks available for now.

I'd question what 100k people are paying their £40/48 membership for if these tickets aren't getting snapped up as soon as they appear. Do they not know the exchange exists or something?

Finally found the Touchlines food outlet near the South/East stand and was able to try the hot dogs . It was very good and a definite buy on all future visits to the stadium.

The market place is more like a jungle and to be avoided

Watch out for the mustard. Nice little kick if you like it on the hot side

Liverpool were on the bring of going to the wall before the FSG takeover. That’s kind of what I meant in that I wouldn’t be surprised if something calamitous happened financially. But not quite as bad as Leeds. I’m sure somebody would bail them out.
The government like last time.

I'm not criticising the loyalty point system necessarily. I'm criticising the poster for having a pop at people for not attending more games and/or paying the membership fee. As I've pointed out, there are all kinds of reasons why people might not be able to go to many games and all kinds of reasons why they might not be able to or be prepared to pay the membership fee. To brush it all off as "you're just a shit fan then" or "you're just stingy and cheap" is completely missing the point. There are tens of thousands of people who either can't afford to get to more than a couple of games a season, or who just physically can't for whatever reason. That doesn't make them cheap or a crap fan so I don't see the need to insult them like the poster I was responding to did.

If @TottenhamMattSpur has all this money to burn and plenty of time to go to games then good luck to him. But there's no reason to start insulting people who can't and having a pop at them for not being as fincancially comfortable as him.
I think he was more referring to the people who are moaning about the membership fee - not in any way saying that poorer fans are crap fans.

I don't want to put words in his mouth, but what I got from it was that the amount of people who are able to spend £50 on a match ticket but can't spend £100 on a match ticket + membership is probably a small amount. That small amount are essentially saying that they really want to get to one of the first home games in the new stadium but they aren't willing to pay anything over the odds for that privilege.

One problem in all this is that the membership is tied to a season rather than a calendar year so it's very low value for the current season if somebody is only looking to buy it now. That should be somewhat balanced by the idea of getting into the stadium whilst it's still so new, but I guess that value is different to different people.

Going forwards though, not much will change. For that fan who can only attend one game per year it wouldn't matter if the membership covered a season or a calendar year - if they only attend one match per year they will need to pay the membership fee each time anyway. Thousands of people each year will be pissed off with it but thousands more will benefit from it.

Not really a fair assessment to be honest. Plenty of people can only afford to get to one, maybe two, games a season, especially if they don't live in London so have to pay travel/accomodation etc. on top of it. So if you're only buying one ticket a season, buying a membership almost doubles the cost of the ticket. It's not necessarily about being stingy, plenty of people genuinely can't afford to go that often. Congratulations to you if you've got so much money you don't need to worry about affording to go to more than 1 game, but there are plenty of people out there who struggle to get by let alone to shell out hundreds of pounds to get to a game and judging them for not being as rich and carefree with their money as you is harsh IMO.

On top of that, the daft season-length membership rather than a 12 calendar month membership system means buying a membership now, for example, just doesn't make any sense. Who is going to pay 50-60 quid to have membership privileges for basically the next couple of weeks?

Finally, the current system, especially with how many STs they've released, makes it almost completely pointless becoming a member now. To use myself as an example, I've spent most of the last 10 years living abroad and only recently moved back to the UK. Even if I bite the bullet and pay to be a member next season, there's well over 100k paying members, and after ST holders/away allocation etc. there's apparently only about 7k seats available to non=ST holders each game. So 100k people with varying degrees of LPs competing for 7k tickets....and they expect me to shell out 50 quid to be a member with 0 LP? For what? In practice I've got absolutely no chance of getting a game even with membership unless there's suddenly an outbreak of the plague and so many ST holders can't make it that some of those 7k tickets filter their way through all the members down to the 0 LP brigade. I don't have 0 LP because I'm less of a loyal fan, it's just that flying into London every couple of weeks for matches just wasn't an option for me for the past however many years. The mere fact that you're able to attend more games doesn't make you any more loyal, especially given how much of it depends on personal circumstances at the time. I reckon a fan who watches every game at 2am from Australia and makes it over for 1 game a year is equally as loyal as someone who lives in North London and has a ST and gets to 19 games a year to be honest.

Agree with the above sentiment, but loyalty points don't impact your ability to get a ticket. Being able to get to a computer or sit with your phone between 9am and 11am on release day is the main thing. There are plenty of people that just can't do that.

How is that relevant to our stadium?

Discussion we were having on last page. Yeah also Neil Ashton reporting the £800k figure. Which would be just over £10 a head. From the numbers in the queues and staying after I’d be surprised if it’s not more. Also reporting Sky bar when opened will be a high end restaurant and night club.

That £800k figure was initially posted by a poster on COYS who said he had heard that was a rumour that those were the takings up till half time against palace. It was then posted on twitter and now has been taken as fact.

It’s just a rumour, I wouldn’t hold that much weight to it.

That is an average of two pints per punter. Thought it would be higher. You also have to deduct costs of products and staff for profit.

Hard to imagine that the average spend has been below £10-12. I mean f*** knows what they are spending in premium must be a fortune. I’ve spent about £15 on average over 3 visits so far.

Not evreyone eats and drinks at the game. Some might spend nothing while some might spend £50. And that was meant to be before half time.
Premium probably spend nothing, food and drink in withnthe price of the ticket.
