Ok so give me a good reason why the club would lie about the opening going as far as to arrange test events and doing safety tests?
Did they sabotage the fire alarm systems on purpose to get out of opening?

I can't see why people can't seem to fathom what has gone on.

Levy to Mace "will it be ready by August?"
Mace - Make it September, just to be sure"
Couple of weeks later
Levy to Mace "will it be ready by Sept for Liverpool?
Mace "Of course, we're well on target"
Levy to the public "The stadium will DEFINITELY open for Liverpool"
Couple of weeks later.
Mace "Sorry, but the project has fallen behind considerably. We'll do everything we can to finish the job, but we cannot give you a definite finish time.
Levy - In order to manage expectations, keep Mace working hard, stop media going wild comes up with a fairly vague and possibly even fairly true reason why it was late.

Levy and THFC are not building the stadium. They are not builders. They are at the mercy of Mace and Mace's information.

The cynic in me would say that it may have been a gambit in terms of getting permission from the PL to play in two different stadiums. If that had been framed as playing the first half at Wembley and the second half in WHL it might not have gone down very well. But an initial target of this full season, then delayed until the Liverpool game probably looks easier to stomach and get a vote on.

Once the safety systems get flagged as being incorrect then it looks like the delay is not our fault per se and that vote to play in both stadiums shouldn't be taken back. That's a total guess - and a very cynical one - but could be a possible reason.

The most likely explanation is that it's a bit of everything; an ambitious deadline, slow work progress, the safety systems, PR and some financial quick-stepping. But fans will make up their own minds regardless - likely based on their existing attitude towards ENIC - so it's a fairly moot point.

I think this is exactly what it was. Over on COYS it’s been intimated Levy had a card up his sleeve in terms of Wembley if the stadium wasn’t ready and I think it was this. Had he ask the PL to play half a season they wouldn’t of had it because of the supposed two stadium rule (which to this day has never been shown to me in the PL rulebook, I couldn’t find it myself) but by doing on a drip feed basis he’s got round it.

Makes perfect sense to me.

The announcement was always highly unlikely to be today. They said it would be sometime this week.

It is unlikely today
"We shall receive a status report from our contractors in the week commencing 7 January 2019 and will update you thereafter. "

This to me suggests there will discussions/meetings after the findings of this report are known !! Then there will be an announcment. My money is on Weds

If it’s bad news I reckon they will leave it as late as possible with some United tickets still to sell. Also hope a for a good result tomorrow.

To be pedantic the statement said 'We shall receive a status report from our contractors in the week commencing 7 January 2019 and will update you thereafter.'

Which means they will get a report this week and update us afterwards with no time frame, although I would be surprised if it is not this week, although I wouldn't be surprised for them to say ' Watford, Newcastle, Leicester and Dortmund at Wembley. A further update when we have considered the contactors status report'.

Nah, sorry. On what planet would Spurs fans not want to see United at Wembley, or any stadium. We'll still sell out whatever allocation we're given for Wembley.

Well it’s gone to general sale for about 4 days and there’s still a good few tickets to shift. There’s probably about 5k left to shift.

I'd quite like to see it, but not at the cost of £52 + travel. At that point I'd rather go down the pub and use the money for an away game instead. Back in Tottenham with an actual atmosphere, places to drink beforehand etc etc would be a different story.

The communication around the stadium is an absolute disgrace. I see plenty of comments saying 3 weeks is enough notice etc but it really isn’t enough for a lot of people. I need to give my work a lot more notice than that and am generally happy to accept work takes precedence over football. However, the first game means so much to me and is a hugely significant occasion. But I can’t keep fobbing off work on the off chance Spurs finally get their s*** together.

I know they don’t want to say 100% but they can give a bit more information on what they are attempting to do surely?! Provisional time lines etc. The fact that they announce Wembley fixtures in such big blocks indicates that they will have known for some time that the earliest fixture in the block was not going to happen.

Do we know if we're allowed to have a full house? If so, 5k left is pretty impressive. I'm sure most of the remaining tickets will be sold.

The atmosphere for Chelsea was great. No reason, with a good performance from the team, that this can't be as good.

From the ticket map, it looks as though it's not the full 90k but not just the lower 2 tiers like tomorrow.

Maybe it's a case of once bitten twice shy for me. I just don't like the place one bit. In any case I spent the money the United ticket would've cost on a ticket and trains for Cardiff away which was an amazing day out, so all's good.

Just checked the upper corners, 550 and 503,504,506 they all have dozens, of not a few hundred available seats. Probably similar in similar areas around the top.

No chance for me, can't do the long distance ones and have nowhere near enough points for the local away games :(

Same for the local ones, it's a nightmare sadly :( Only one I've had enough points for was West Ham away in the LC which went pretty low.

It never had to be completed. It just had to be safe to hold a football match. It failed because of the fire alam systems.
Stop wasting your time, its not worth it. Some people will always have ridiculous and irrational opinions

If it hadn’t failed on the fire alarm system it would have failed on many other aspects of the build
