Ok so give me a good reason why the club would lie about the opening going as far as to arrange test events and doing safety tests?
Did they sabotage the fire alarm systems on purpose to get out of opening?
The cynic in me would say that it may have been a gambit in terms of getting permission from the PL to play in two different stadiums. If that had been framed as playing the first half at Wembley and the second half in WHL it might not have gone down very well. But an initial target of this full season, then delayed until the Liverpool game probably looks easier to stomach and get a vote on.

Once the safety systems get flagged as being incorrect then it looks like the delay is not our fault per se and that vote to play in both stadiums shouldn't be taken back. That's a total guess - and a very cynical one - but could be a possible reason.

The most likely explanation is that it's a bit of everything; an ambitious deadline, slow work progress, the safety systems, PR and some financial quick-stepping. But fans will make up their own minds regardless - likely based on their existing attitude towards ENIC - so it's a fairly moot point.

I thought this was the crux of it exactly, they knew it wouldnt be ready at first but no way the PL would have let us play part and part. Although its gone on way longer than expected.

Levy would have wanted us in there ASAP and the only way to do that would have been to say we were in there from the start and keep delaying.

Ok so why announce we are going to open v liverpool arrange test events and safety checks if they knew they were not going to open on that date?

Because that was the hole they’d dug themselves. Imagine selling the most expensive season tickets in PL then 1 month later saying actually it won’t be ready and we will be at Wembley all season. People would have demanded a refund immediately would have been total chaos. This way they’ve kept the majority of the cash and constantly dangled a carrot to keep us interested and happy to trudge to Wembley thinking oh it’s only another month. I believe they probably thought we could in this month which we may well be and thought they could spin it out for 3 or 4 months which they’ve basically done consistently giving us false hope.

I wouldn't expect an annoucnement today for the first game at least. I think we need to know the FA Cup location after tonight before deciding.

Whenever we do get an update, it'll inevitably be with that same bad news picture, won’t it:cry:

I doubt very much whether they can announce anything definitive today. They are supposedly only getting the reports back from Mace etc today at the earliest. Then they would have to make final arrangements for the test events, liase with other clubs, police and possibly UEFA regarding the CL etc.

In fact I’d go as far as saying if we get an announcement today or even tomorrow then it points to bad news.

It’ll be announced when it’ll be announced. No draw or reault has anything to do with it. Especially a semi final cup result where the first fixture is “home” fixture at Wembley.

What i meant by that is, normally after some good news released by the club its been followed with bad news

While that is correct you can be sure we'll have set a deadline for it. We wont just say "well get it done when you can". This is a project that's overrunning. Daniel Levy is there every day for that reason. I'm sure he'll be pushing to get it done as soon as possible so we can announce the opener. We'll have deadlines to announce test events and the opening game so he'll be hot on the heels to get the final safety tests done. They've had their festive holidays, now it's time to work hard and get the job done.

I’d say the FA cup Draw is definitely relevant to the announcement. I’m sure they’d rather make one announcement than have to do a separate one for FA cup.

The announcement was always highly unlikely to be today. They said it would be sometime this week.

Yep. And IF(huge IF) by some stroke of magic, the bad news picture is not with it, then im sure the announcement will be that February 2nd against Newcastle is the first game. Wont be midweek against Watford as would be awful for transport purposes and you’d think if BVB will be at the stadium like we hope then it’ll have to open by Leicester and if its open by Leicester, it could open by Newcastle.
