I gave it to Ade, I don't think it necessary he drops so deep but it shows his current hunger.

I just hope he never recedes to the apathetic performances he is prone to put in, like when he came here with Shitty two years ago.

I've put in a token vote for Kaboul, thought he was excellent today as in truth were nearly if not all.

No, that would just be taking the easy way out.

He needs to learn, develop and be coached well.

Of course and I agree with you, but if he doesn't learn those defensive responsibilities, it not the end for him. He is fast going forward and probably a better passer of the ball than Lennon.

Aye Ade was far better, just pointing out that Defoe was good when in possession and he scored a goal. Some claim he had a poor game, which I think is unfair.

I think Adebayor, Modric, Parker and Bale were excellent but everyone did well today. The way we passed the ball was slick. Watching Parker and Adebayor is like seeing the previously missing pieces in the jigsaw. Our link up play is fantastic.

Friedel 7 - Not a lot to do but done it well
Walker 7.5 - Not much to do either, but offered more going forward than he has so far this season
King 8 - Not much to do either, but had the beating of Carroll in the air and kept Saurez quiet all game
Kaboul 8 - Same as above
BAE 7.5 - Same as Walker

I'm porbably overrating their performances today, but they looked really solid against a good attack even when it was 11 v 11 and kept thier concentration the whole 90 minutes.

Niko 7 - Pretty good first half, especially when you consider he's not really a RM.
Modric 9 - His usual self with a fantastic goal on top of it
Parker 9 - Brillinat on and off the ball.
Bale 7.5 - Good game, especially in the first half, but his end product wasn't there today.

Adebayor 9 - So that's a world class striker is. It's been a few years since we've seen one.
Defoe 7.5 - Worked hard, got involved more in general play and scored the goal that killed the game. I'm not convinced himself and Adebayor will work consistently, but they were pretty good together today.

VDV 7 - I actually like him playing from the right. Played well there today.

 I love how you rated Defoe down for missing two chances, but don't when Adebayor missed a great chance at 0-0(an easy chance then Defoe's imo) and another good one at 1-0.

OMFG - "His overall play was not great today", but he did put lots of effort in, missed a sitter and scored a well taken goal.

Are we not allowed to just make an objective assessment? I'm not knocking him, he just has a lot to learn still defensively. He'll get that with regular football though.

Not a comment aimed at you specificially - but there have been quite a few people on here completely writing Kyle Walker off! That's what's bizarre.

Of course we can say he needs to learn defensively. Who doesn't at age 20?

Adebayor, his movement was superb, and his link up play sublime. Wonderful first two games for the club.

Friedle -6- bugger all to do
Walker -6- a few shaky moments defensively, underused going forward
Kaboul -7.5- dominated Caroll
King -8- shut Suarez down, caused him to spit his dummy out in frustration
BAE -8- hero
Niko -7- worked hard, played some lovely passes and helped us dominated the ball
Parker -8- tenacious and tidy in possession
Modric -9- ran the game, danced around the 'pool midfield and scored a beauty.MOTM
Bale -7.5- terrorised Skrtl, but too greedy when better options were on
Ade -9- what a difference he makes, great hold up play, great link up play and 2 lovely finishes
Defoe -8- worked non-stop, scored a good goal could have had another. good link up with Ade
VdV -7- came on at HT for Niko and did pretty much the same job

I know Liverpool was poor today but I thought our Full-backs (Benny & Kyle) we're awesome. Tough to choose between Ade & Luka for MOM so went for Benny! Lol
Great game though & would rate every player an 8 or better.

Parker was my MOM, he was fucking superb. Looking forward to BC's pass completion stats for him.

Mod, Benny, Led, Ade, all very very good as well.

"King Kenny"......put that myth to bed, he set his team up like a bunch of dirty ****s. That's what they were.

And for Suarez.....I'm disappointed that the reason we didn't buy him is because he is too similar to VDV, it should've been because actually.....he's not that good. And he's a horrible, cheating, diving little ****.

And to give a little perspective-

19/21 passes before Arsehole Adams was sent off.
38/40 before Skrtel received his marching orders.

after seeing that performance and the effect that 1 or 2 sound transfers have had on the rest of the squad plus the non performance from the usual suspects (arse, liver, sea), i can see us in the race for 3rd.

Huge win, and an excellent performance of pass and move football, and encouragingly we pressed the ball excellently all over the pitch.

The sending offs obviously impacted the game hugely, and it would have been interesting to have seen how the game would have panned out if Adam hadn't been sent off. When it was 11 v 11 we were well on top, passing, moving, pressing well but with the way we play with Modric as part of a CM 2 you can't help wondering if we would have kept it up for 90 mins, and how we would have reacted to Liverpool coming back into the game like they probably would have had it been 11 on 11.

Tactically Liverpool made a change from what they have been doing this season by playing Downing from the right and giving Adam the left side tucked in role, so same system just the other way round where Henderson has been doing the tucking in. This was presumably to allow Enrique to bomb forward into that space and for Suarez to pull out wide and expose our right back - I actually think Dalglish was expecting to see Corluka at right back with this move, to get Suarez on him exposing his lack of pace and also with the inclusion of Carroll because with Charlie being slow we naturally play a deeper defensive line which makes Carroll more of a threat when he wins knock downs etc 15 yards from goal rather than 40. With our full back line being quick we defended higher up the pitch and because we pressed Adam really well they were unable to spring Suarez. Walker has had, and will have his critics as to his defensive play (and his intelligence in the final third) but it was more the dynamics he brought to the team today - by bombing forward well into the space that Kranjcar (and VDV) created he kept Enrique on the back foot for the most part - this was plain to see when they went down to 10 men and it was Skyrtel (a CB) who was the most advanced of the 2 full backs. If this was a deliberate tactic from Harry, then it was brave and successful so credit where it's due.

I don't think I can say anymore about Adebayor than what has been said, he attempted 73(65) passes today which even with our numerical advantage is stunning. He's just a huge upgrade, he contributed to our pass and move football and lead the line excellently. World class.

Friedel - I'm not going to bother giving him a rating, we could have stuck SS57 in goal and we'd never have noticed.
Walker - 7 As I said it was more the dynamics he brought to the team that kept their left side quiet, but he broke forward well and played one lovely pass into Ade, although I sense his delivery is going to be a bit Lennonesque. He's the type of player we need at full back, I'm not convinced he's the actual player though.
Kaboul - 7 Dominated Carroll in the air, an easy afternoon for him.
King -7 With Kaboul an easy afternoon after the double s/o, but both showed how important ball playing CBs are, pass and move possession football needs defenders comfortable on the ball.
BAE - 7 Routine 90 for Benny.
Kranjcar - 7 Contributed well to our passing and moving game, intelligent player.
Parker - 8 I was indifferent to him joining at first, now I'm really coming around. He was really busy, winning the ball well and good in possession. He earns you the right to play, but can also play a bit himself. Looking forward to seeing him alongside Sandro.
Modric - 9 Perfect pass and move football, he's the perfect playmaker and what a hit for the opener.
Bale - 7.5 His best game for a while, and easily his hardest working game for a while too. He still was a tad frustrating in forward positions at times, and took a couple of potshots too many when we were knocking it around with ease, but encouraging.
Defoe - 7.5 Good game and he worked very hard today, scored a typical 'Defoe' goal and 19/19 passes which is about as good as you'll get from him.
Adebayor (MOTM) - 9 Now this is what a world class striker looks like. 68/73 passes, linked play, held the ball, dropped deep and contributed to our excellent pass and move game and 2 brilliant finishes. Great signing.

VDV - 7.5 He was never going to stick out wide on the right, especially with Walker needing no encouragement to get forward so he came infield and joined the party. Assist for Defoe was lovely.
GDS - 7 Had very little time but he moved intelligently and kept up the tick in our passing. If you give him intelligence around him, and a bit of confidence there is a player in there somewhere wanting to come out.

Great day, after the start of the season things are starting to look a whole lot rosier.
