He told Jutarnji List: "Everybody wants to know what will happen with me.

"I'm trying to stay calm as my national team has a really important match coming.

"So I will tell you the same as all ways - my club status is the same as it was before.

"But of course, if there will be an offer which will be good for Tottenham and for me also, then a transfer is of course possible.

"That doesn't mean that I'm bothered with leaving Tottenham - I'm not thinking about that every hour and every minute.

"I'm happy at White Hart Lane - my status is great, the fans like me and I do have everything I need.

"But then again - when you experience playing in Champions League, you want to keep playing in this tournament."

Have you actually read what he's said?

He doesn't "want" to go, he's put everything in the hands of the club. And that means that he's not going.

At what point does that suggest he WANTS to go??? :bang:

It's this sort of shit that makes the transfer window so fucking irritating.

Apologies, Nev, but seriously!

He said if there's an offer which is good for me then he'd consider it

He also mentioned the desire to play champions league football would be a temptation

Lets watch this space throughout the window.

He's not saying I'd never leave is he..

I understand what you're saying and having re-read the article I have been a bit inflamatory.

I do think though that this is the sort of comment made in the media to encourage other teams to take an interest

So basically he wants to play in the Champions League (who doesn't?) but is happy at Spurs - where is the sensational story of him 'wanting out'?

Don't you just love the media spin-machine?!

He didn't say he wanted to go, did he? He said he would consider an offer that was beneficial to the club and for him. If it's down to wages, we should up them even thought we all know that weekly salaries are obscene. He is one player who has to be worth it.

I hope it doesn't happen. He's the heart of the team.

Why the sensationalist headline, Do you write for the express?

I think Modric is actually Diana, and illegal immigrants (the queen/Prince Philip) are trying to kill him, in a plane crash on the way to manchester...

Would you expect him to though?

It is surely not the case that he is constantly thinking to himself:

"I must remember to pacify the hopelessly insecure"

Not that you are, but you get the point.

Think everyone is starting to put their fingers in their ears and go 'la la la la'

Quit ignoring what's in front of you

Right offer and he's off. This is how it begins

I think he'll give us next season to get back in the Champs Lge.
But if we don't, I can't see him spending more than one year without CL football. And to be fair a player of his calibre should be in it every year.

But that's always been true, I actually take the positive from this that he'd only leave if it's right for the club. Which sounds great to me.

It's very ambiguous. You don't know how the quotes have been pieced together and whether they are direct quotes said in that exact way. But if they were, then you can safely assume that Modric is saying I would happily move if the right club came in.

But that goes for any footballer in one way or another doesn't it ?

Fabregas will leave Arsenal for Barca, Ronaldo left ManU for Real. Luka Modric will leave us if we don't play CL football - and to be honest, who could blame him, he's is one of the best footballers in Europe, he should be playing on the biggest stage.

And when he does, don't blame him or Levy. Blame the lack of CL football.

I think this is a non starter for Levy TBH.
The sale of Modric would not only lead to the disillusionment of the fans (in the eyes of some making his position untenable) but could also be the excuse that some players may be looking for to ask for their own moves...

I also (in light of previous transfers) find it hard to believe that he would even entertain the idea of selling him to ManU.

It's going to be a long summer...

Perhaps Levy could ask for some tips from the Arsenal board on how to fend off interest for your star midfielder.

Its all about the Money, Money, Money. Right offer in and he will be sold, every player has a price. Anything over £30 million will be close to a 100% on the little guy, Levy wont care who the buyer is. I hope we can keep hold of him for at least one more season to get into the CL.

Sorry Donki (if that is your name!)
but there comes a point where money pales into insignificance when a sale is detrimental to the future of the club, and if we are not already perceived as MU feeders this will mean that for the next 10 years any player who stands above the mediocrity we were not so long ago accustomed to will automatically be linked to them.

whilst this may help in us signing some good players using us as a stepping stone to MU that's not what i want for my club.
