He was one of our best defenders early season. He had one or two poor games (in generally poor team performances) and got dropped for Reggie who's kept the spot.
I have to disagree, i think against everton, he, like everyone else was poor, he was at fault for the first goal vs southampton and his only other game before reggie vs newcastle he didn’t really have much to do

Its the 2nd one.

I dont know whether youre being serious or not, but we did NOT play well, we still conceded possession easily and never looked assured on the ball.

A win doesnt mean we set up correctly, but a lot of us in here go blind whenever we win.

The difference is the quality of the opposition.

‘Kin hell. ??‍♂️
We did play well. What the fuck were you watching??

Gotta admit i was feeling nervous at 2-1 . Tanguy calm my nerves .
Joe looks very good on his debut. He is quite fast too and dint looked overawed
We really need Steve to start every game. He starts we win.
Reg was brilliant the 1st half but was so quiet the 2nd half. Same for Sonny.
Anyone feels the KS connection looks a bit jaded.
Good all around performance.

Don't wanna be annoying, but that wasn't Rodon's debut.

Ok papered over all the cracks for a few days and within 24 hours the race for thread will be full of posts going “if we only beat Liverpool we’ll be x distance from the top”. I thought it was good to see a new line up and otherwise there’s not that much to take away from this.

I know it won’t happen but if we continue with 3 at the back id like to see Toby instead of Davies for aerial threat

Just a question on who plays where..
Rodon should be on the left, but the other 2?
Could play Dier central, so he can move forward when needed.

Really good win today but starting to get really frustrated with Dier always caught in no mans land. How many headers have we conceded lately because his positioning is all wrong. Rodon looks a fantastic prospect though.

Yeah don't fancy him either. Much rather Toby in there alongside Rodon. Don't trust dier

It was a decent performance against the bottom, still conceded from across & defensively we look dodgy at times.

Interesting to see how Jose builds on this, does he stick with 3 at the back because it allowed us more attacking options or do we revert to a back 4.

From which we learn that "formations" are really not very important. Every match, we get pages and pages of garbage, ahead of the match, going on and on about the formation. Nominally "defensive" players are not defensive if they are briefed to play in an attacking role, which we all know good, fast fullbacks can do.

This was never set up as a defensive five-at-the-back strategy. The intention, right from the kick off, was to pin the Sheffield wide players back, so they couldn't get any sustained attacking momentum going. It worked well until we were 2-0 up, at which point some of our mentality issues showed for about 20 minutes.

The formation and, more importantly, the instructions given to the players enabled us to play a vigorous, skilful attacking game whenever we had the ball, which was often for about two thirds of the match.

Judging managerial intent based on formations, in modern football, is bollocks. Players move. They play fluid, changing, multi-functional roles, under orders to alter their roles depending on whether or not we have the ball.

But the next time Mourinho selects three defenders and two wing-backs, we'll have the same chorus of wailing and moaning about "defensive formations" all over again.

Is it me or have Sky not bothered interviewing any of the players or managers from our game?
Honestly our game is just like an undercard fight before their main event. Takes the piss out of spurs and Sheffield Utd fans
