I really do think this will be a tight game. Yes they'll probably win but its not going to be a hammering.

Wouldn't be one bit surprised if its 0-0 at half time. City have started the season very sluggishly. Was looking at the amount of first half goals they've scored to, its like 6 or something compared to 29 last season at the same stage of the season - think that's right.

Toure looks a shadow of the player he was last season to. So often their driving force from the middle of the pitch. Against Villa, even though he scored late on, he was easily their worst player. Would be surprised if his form picks up this weekend after the traveling.

Silva is the one I would assign someone to mark all game. Constantly looking for space and its him who makes them tick.

I think they'll edge it 2-1.

To be fair though most of those 29 were against us.

On a serious note though, it means we have to put up with fucking Michael 'dullard' Owen's co-commentary
Yeah - good point. I might get the wife to do some hoovering and turn the sound right down. It'll be the same monotonous drone...(y)

I really don't get all the negativity. If we come out of this thrashed I'll be shocked. If we come out beaten I'll be moderately surprised. If I come out with a point I'll think we've achieve the minimum we should expect from this fixture. If we come out with 3 points then I'll feel like we've achieved what I expect us to achieve in any given game.

Seriously guys, take some Prozac or something. This game is very winnable so long as the necessary ingredients, which we possess, combine in the necessary way (Pochettino's job).

I'm missing this as i'm moving house. That is probably a fortuitous mercy.

On the odd chance that we actually get a result, I think i'll be too superstitious to actually watch any more of us...

You do realise that they won 17, drew 1 and lost 1 at home last season..?

seems likely we will lose. but I want mind so much if we show the same character as did at the Emirates and don't capitulate at the first sign of stress.

I agree with this.

I don't think we will get thrashed. We probably won't be pretty to watch but we'll be well prepared to keep compact and counter attack with purpose.

I won't be surprised if it is 1-1 or even if we nick it 1-0. Either if we lose i think it will probably only be by a goal or two.

What is this I'm hearing?!?! Talk of winning against Man City away? There's optimistic and then there's just off the chain! I will be genuinely happy if we lose by less than 3 clear goals.

Last game I watched on BT I turned volume down and put Talksport on.
Lesser of 2 evils.
Owen is so biased and talks utter shite imo.

I thought a fundamental ingredient of being a spurs fan was blind optimism?

I fear it has been replaced by blind pessimism.

Spurs to win 1-2.

Right , well our prematch spirits are an improvement on the Arse match at least. That match has put a bit of stiffness into our fan mentality , maybe the players too .

Triangle of obstinacy (was it ?) that's what I'm looking for...mixed in with super fast counters Go Spurs (y)

This.

Same with Chelsea. They aren't real football clubs so if we lose to them it's easy to let it slide.

The wage bills at those two clubs are beyond a joke. Paying someone 300k per week is why they attract the best players.

It's the pretending otherwise that winds me up!

To be honest, though, City fans I've met are pretty cool about it - they are just enjoying the ride, as I would be. They appreciate that they've struck gold and don't really try to hide it. Fair play. I have to say that they also have a habit of signing players I really love watching - players I wish we had! I particularly like Aguero, he's a wonderful striker and works so hard for the team.

On the other hand, however, most Chelsea fans I have met deal with this completely differently...

It's as if they've chosen to forget that football existed before 2003 and that they were essentially a nothing club before that point. It's as if they were hoping that after 10 years of Abramovich people would forget how they got there and they would suddenly become credible.

It obviously doesn't help that their classless egotist of a manager constantly feeds their arrogance via the media, as if he's deliberately playing the role of an exaggerated example of the cretins he represents. When he referred last season to a squad with the largest wage bill in the EPL as a 'little horse', I actually heard Chelsea fans treating the comment seriously and agreeing with him. Seriously.

It's embarrassing when you hear them trying to tell you how they are 'well run' and the latest bleat of this ilk is how they 'balanced the books' last summer due to the transfer fees they managed to recoup.

Yeah mate, because Diego Costa, Fabregas, Zouma, Remy, Felipe Luiz and Courtois don't earn more money than most clubs' entire fucking squads!

Honestly, they don't seem to understand how it works, it's the equivalent of watching a fat bloke sucking in his gut for a photo...

But I digress... :)

We'll lose on Saturday but as long as we put on a good show, I won't care.
Absolutely agree, that club sickens me right down to the Pitt of my stomach...two bob club, two bob fans
