With no Euro 2008 to look forward to (if you're a supporter of England, Scotland, Wales, N.Ireland or Eire) as a team supporter we can only look forward to it as an impartial spectator or supporter of football.
Doesn't really cut the mustard with me but hey ho each to their own.
It does however, give us the ability to look at some of the top european talent out there at the mo. At least all us spurs fans can see Modric in action (hope I haven't jinxed him now!) in top Interantional flight football.
It just makes me think that with the Euros on and this whole transfer window malarky unless the deals aredone early then it means for some the deals will have to be done after the Euros finish. A long drawn out process for us eagerly anticipating, nail-biting spurs fans waiting to see who will be in and more importantly, who will be out!
I am resigned to losing Berbahoff now, mainly because a club in CL already is a far greater prospect than a club aiming for CL next season. Obviously its great to have ambitions but when you think your ambitions can be achieved with more likelihood at a different club then you would grab the opportunity. Its not like he is 21, he is heading towards his peak right now and he knows it.
I hope he does well wherever he goes.
We all know how much we love the flair player at Spurs but to have a team of good players is more important.
I would love to see the likes of Ronaldinho, Eto'o, Gatusso, Capel, Lucio etc at the lane (not looking for people to tell me reasons why they wouldn't want any of those, they are my top players to see) but I am realistic and can only see one of those coming (Capel) if any!
Our three main areas to sort are Midfield general, Defensive general and confident keeper. As already seen this season we have one of the top scoring records in English football so the attack isn't as big an issue. Yes with Berbahoff gone it will have a huge impact but with a decent replacement we can create another style of attack. We are very good on the counter attack and would love to know the stats for goals scored with and without Berbahoff on those counter attacks!
I will say it'd be very exciting if we landed someone like Eto'o to replace Berba but hey ho will need to wait and see.
Not sure now what the point of this was as i've been waffling.............what are your thoughts on this summer?

Appreciate my comment isn't spurs related really, but im actually almost looking forward to Euro 2008 more now that are England are out. Before everyone starts whinging at me let me explain...

Every time theres a major tournament, everyone starts going on about how this is our year etc and it just clearly never is, the national side needs a hell of a sorting and im actually quite gald Capello has a few years to do so.

This means that you can now enjoy all games individually without the horrible overhype from the BBC/ITV/SKY broadcasting.

Also you get to watch guys like Modric and get a good look at them before we see them play for us, and it wouldnt surprise me if you bought a few more players from the Euro's either.

Me and some of my buddies are putting teams in to a hat and drawing them to see who we have to support in the Euros. Bit of money on it aswell for that extra bite!

I agree, but also because if we had got there, we'd still have McLaren in charge for it, and that would have gone far worse than not being there at all.

Good point. Exactly the same as I thought when Graham Taylor didn't get us to USA '94.

Seeing that I have no real interest in Euro 2008 (still embarassing England) thought I'd fill the gap by having a baby! Due 08/08/08 so will hopefully arrive before start of the season....not going to miss a home game!!!

i think i might atchaly pay more attendtion to Euro 2008, with no home nation there i dont have to tune into there games to see how they do and might be able to catch other games and see better games(as the home nations games are normaly kidna poor) still would have liked 1 team to get there, but i think it will go quickly with other sports about as well!

I love the excitement of major football tournaments even if Engerland aren't there. Living in Palmers Green this summer will make it more fun with all the Greeks going wild. If the Greeks do shit there's always the Turks who will go wild. But if the Turks and Greeks do rubbish then the Italians will make up for it.
