Is it just me or do many football 'corespondents" have their own agenda (not so) hidden in most articles they write ? I mean supposedly they write unbiased & neutral pieces based on what actually took place. it seems to me many of them each support their own teams and write their articles accordingly (ie excuse their teams failings and undermine their rivals with provocative often inaccurate pieces).
I suppose it depends on the specific journo to be honest. Also I think it depends what kind of article it is. If it's a plain and simple match report then I think they need to be unbiased because the job is simply to report on what happened during the game. But if it's a column or something then I think it's fine for there to be a certain level of bias because it's an opinion piece so they're allowed to draw their own conclusions, which the reader can either agree or disagree with. And that's sort of self-policing because if they constantly offer ridiculous opinions that are so biased that it makes it a pointless exercise, then fewer people will read it.
Personally I think it's better when journos openly admit to who they support rather than try to keep it a secret though.
