I have to confess something - maybe I've been fortunate, but I've not met any obnoxious Liverpool fans. I've known a few in my time and I've always felt them to be pretty genuine. I've got a Twitter friend who's a Liverpool supporter and he's never been a prick. When we beat them last season, he was dignified in defeat and when they beat us this season, he was magnanimous in victory. He commiserated with me.

Am I alone?

I have to confess something else as well...

...

I quite like Jurgen Klopp.

Sorry, chaps.

He doesn't sound like a real Liverpool fan to me. Probably just a casual.

The fact that you've linked to "page 231" when on this site a thread you've never visited goes to the first page suggests that maybe you're a regular visitor there yourself, matey...

In real life, they're fine - online, they're absolute twats.

Klopp is a gurning coke-head without anything real about him.

Internet fans of the RAWK variety give the club a bad name because they shout loudest. I know Liverpool fans who are impossible to talk football with, and I know Liverpool fans (including two of my best mates) who are very sensible and easy to discuss football with.

In Norway we have an expression where we call obsessively blinkered fans "patients", as in mental asylum patients. There are enough patients in the Liverpool fanbase to make me not want them to win the league.

A big part of the problem is that the club encourages the patients, and when the club shows itself from it's worst side in cases like the Suarez incident it encourages the worst fans to carry on being complete patients, and corrupts the more sensible fans as well. The way the club (and the managers past and present) build a mythology around the club, where it's all 5 TIMES this and 18 TITLES that and LOOK AT OUR HISTORY every step of the way regardless of how the team are performing, it gives the most patient-like supporters the feeling that they have a divine right to win everything all the time, even when it's patently not the case. And those fans will scream loudest and be more insufferable than any other fans of any other club would be should Liverpool actually win the league.

In short, sod Liverpool and pray City win.

You see, that poses the main problem for me.

I loathe Man City. And here's the irony: it's Man City fans who I've had bad experiences with. I've not met many, I admit, but the one that sticks in my head was maybe about 10 years ago. I was in a pub watching a game with my brother. I don't even think it was against Man City, but there was one Shitizen in there and he went on and on and on and on about the 1981 FA Cup Final. How Man City played better and there should never have been a reply and that Ricky Villa's winning goal was 'nothing special'. He was being obnoxious and loud and he really ruined the day - to the point that I can't remember what game we watched, but I still remember him!

Im shocked. Shocked that letting a visibly fucked TAA after warm ups go the full 90 didnt work out well for him. Who would have thought? Nice one, Klopp. No one to blame but yourself.

I agree that City fans aren't exactly great either, and a large generation of their fans will always hate us for '81, but I have far greater problems with the club itself, which you have made a series of excellent posts on this site about.

But the bottom line for me is that a City title doesn't count in the same way as a Liverpool title would. A City win is a hollow victory, and their fans won't get any more uppity and obnoxious than they already are. A significant chunk of Liverpool fans will take obnoxiousness to the next level if they win.

Yeah, until I saw (I think it was) you post something similar to the second part about the worthlessness of any Man City trophies that I was a bit gobsmacked that people preferred Man City to Liverpool. It's a fair point.

Ultimately, I suppose it's a bit like holding a 'Which is the Ripest Turd' competition.

But Man City doesn't count... Everything they do is irrelevant. So who cares about their ripe turds.
