A Liverpool fan phoned in to 606 tonight, and another text in, saying that Klopp should go and that they will never win anything with him in charge.

His reasons: defence, goalkeeper, and without Mane they look crap.

Agree with that, today on the Mane point anyway, as did the presenters but said sacking him is mental. He and the presenters went round and round in circles about Klopp's Dortmund and there being no shame in losing to Bayern etc...

Another then phoned in and said that the fan above is mad and they will fix it in time, everything takes time etc... and then when they asked this one about the defence, he mentioned Virgil Van Dijk coming in January (hopefully, he said) and then said that Spurs have a spare centre defender.

I lean on the side of the first guy, really. The defence drags the rest of the side down.. but the second guy was proof that RAWK is real. How much time do you give Klopp to find a decent goalie and defence? and who does he think is spare at Spurs?

Regarding the spare defender he probably assumes we play two centre backs, or just can't count.

Can't really fault their attack, but their defenders are below par. They seem to be collecting a lot of average dross like Ox to go with other average dross like Henderson. Klopp's record is probably worse than Brentan's now too.

They'll smash teams making up the numbers like Arsenal, but they're really the new Ossie's famous five, often scoring but regularly conceding.

Still, they'll beat someone like West Brom 1-0 and their fans will be back to thinking Liverpool will win the quadruple.

Just seen the Mane red card, Klopp is delusional if he thinks that it was'nt a red card
So is Shearer. If thats not a red players start flying in on goalkeepers like fkin Bruce Lee with a thought of 'well if I don't win the ball at least I'll take him out.'
Its a red, end of.
Spoilt the game though I'll agree with that.

I wondered that, but then remembered there were comments that they should sell Coutinho and then just go and buy Alli and Alderweireld.. so maybe this guy thinks one of JV or TA is 'spare' and ready to go to Liverpool.

He probably means that Sanchez has come in so Dier will be out of the side. He probably doesn't understand rotation or Eric wanting to play in midfield.

Dame Edna Klopp's gurning face when Mane was sent off was Munch-esque.

His post match: "Sumsing touched de face of de keeper, I'm not sure vot"

That would be the banzai five foot high boot of your player....

I dont get the "controversy" on Mane's red card at all. If you leave your feet with your studs at five feet and kick someone in the face thats a red card every time to me.

Exactly! If studs up at shin height is a red then head height is a red too surely?

It's amusing that they simply think that buying a defender or two will cure all their defensive issues. Lovren was supposed to sort it out, then Matip...now it's VVD. Sometimes a coach simply cannot build a top defensive unit. It's one of Klopps flaws ( Brenton also had a similar issue )

As more time goes by, Klopp shows himself to be a proper **** generally speaking. Not likeable in the slightest imo.

Even with the sending off they shouldn't have capitulated as they did. It seems as though they are all more than happy to simply blame the thrashing on the sending off of Mane and move on.

Textbook deflection, just pushing the blame onto someone else.
They were carved open for the first goal before the sending off because of their crap defence, and time and time again after it....I don't think having Mane on the pitch would've made fuck all difference to the goals they conceded.

All this was it/wasn't it a red card is just pointless, how the law stands he had to go...people blaming the ref is just daft, if he didn't send him off he wouldn't be doing his job.
And whether it was intentional or not isn't relevant, his studs at head height have cut open someone's face, you can't get much more dangerous than that, and that's what he was sent off for....endangering the safety of an opponent.

I always think of klopp as over emotional he must affect the players, his not calm at all his so animated, as an opposing manager you must be thinking you can get under his skin and destabilise his team. MP, Jose, fergerson, were/are passionate but keep it a lot more controlled and calm. I think playing for klopp would feel frantic and might give me a heart attack.

Had that red been for a smaller team I doubt any of the pundits would have said a damn thing. Since its Liverpool it is some kind of travesty.

What part of kicking someone in the face (studs first) isn't a red card?

"He was looking at the ball" - well perhaps as a pro footballer who is supposed to be aware of what is going on around him he should work on that particular skill?

"There was no intent" - doesn't need to be intentional if it is dangerous.

"the ref ruined the game" - no he applied the rules, when a player has broken the rules and in such a dangerous way that there was serious concern for the health of the GK,then the ref has no choice!

"I would go for that ball every time" - And you would get sent off every time you made contact with the keeper. You were a dirty wanker as a player Alan we all know that, but you can't seriously be suggesting there was nothing wrong with that challenge. Even if he had won the ball the ref could have still blown for a high dangerous foot next the the keepers head.

I can see why Klopp would think it was harsh when it happened, the view from his side of the pitch in real time just made it look like a coming together. But from the Refs point of view, you could see it was studs up to the face. No rational person would defend that. No, it wasn't intentional, but it was reckless and dangerous. If Sane had gone in like that on Mingnolet and broken his cheek bone, the scoucers would all be wanking themselves into a grief coma.

One of the comments from the BBC's piece on the game. :D

I seem to remember Moss the ref having poor games officiating Liverpool games before. He hardly shows leniency toward The Reds. Now, he's probably screwed up our season for us when it's hardly even started. Mane is probably Liverpool's best player, certainly in terms of form, and now he will be out for three games at least. When he was out last season, the team's game plummeted. Nice one Moss.

I don't care how biased you are, if you can't see that Many had to go then you're bloody insane. At least most on here had the humility to see that Dele had to go V Gent, this was Dele's challenge but 3 feet higher and while Dele's could have broken a leg, this could have ended a life. Quite frankly if Ederson wanted to report Mane to the police, the prosecution would have a very strong case for aggravated assault.
