I'd really love it if ENIC chucked some more money in, bought Martinez for silly money, and then loaned him to AC Milan for shits and giggles.

Italian reporter on SSN (Nicky Bandini) made a good point. If Inter get in Dybala and Lukaku on loan then selling Martinez is an easier sell to their fans and also helps them with the money problems. That’s the only game I could see being played by the Italians.

But imagine the irony now of Chelsea helping us out with getting Martinez by allowing Lukaku to go back there?

It's a tricky one with Lukaku. It's hard to tell who holds the cards in negotiations.

I'd actually argue it's Inter more than Chelsea. Chelsea could try to leverage them but they could easily call their bluff.

- Lukaku has burned bridges at Chelsea with the manager, fans and possibly his team mates.
- He's clearly desperate to return to Inter, could flat out refuse to go elsewhere. Apparently willing to take a pay cut to do so.
- No-one is particularly queuing up to pay big money for Lukaku at this point so they don't have many options.

Say Inter were to sell Lautaro to us or anyone else. Would they really not deal with Inter afterwards? None of the above changes.

Obviously it would be smoother just to sell a player to Chelsea but the players would have to want to go there.

Even if he does, the club aren’t going to outlay €110m in one hit, we just haven’t got that luxury
That’s not true. We have just been given a £150m cash injection. A deal is doable if it fits within the plans fab is looking at

What would be sweet was this to go to the wire with Inter relying on £70mill from us to keep the bank happy and at the eleventh hour we say "Nah, we actually really need a LCB. Do you know where we could buy one at short notice?".

And that’s exactly we’re he will end up Chelsea ! No doubt they are being offered home during the lukaku talks

how u know
We’ve committed to around £110m in transfers including players like Romero on loan from last season, I can see us spending €110 on the right player if it would really be the perfect signing, but let’s be real, it would be in instalments etc.

The club have never spent anywhere close to that much money in a single payment before, and £150m for the season (January window included) isn’t going to change that in my opinion. We still have to be smart with our money.

Thats exactly why I feel this late night news came out. They are baiting Chelsea with a news of Spurs potential bid.

I would rather Martinez stay at Inter than we enter into bid and Chelsea gazumping us

This is the only way you can really fit Martinez in the team.

Maybe Conte is planning to set up like this?

Player has a say surely? If it came to a choice I am still of the opinion and it may not mean much but a player will choose us over chavs because of conte. Martinez in this case played under conte, he has romero and Gio (not for long) as Argentine compatriots. We have a better ground, better facilities and better fans!

edit we also have perisic and possibly eriksen who he knows

That looks pretty mental on paper to be honest.

I get the concerns about Lautaro however the one thing you wouldn't expect him to let us down on is work-rate and competitiveness, and he clearly knows where the net is.

The reports from Italy is that he is happy and settled at Inter, which tells me he doesn't want to move. This then poses a risk with his motivation to join us and may have an impact on how quickly he settles if he is unhappy.
