I recall the same praise heaped on Ndombele when we were after him too. 80m is too much for potential.. and potential in a lower quality league. No thanks, not for that kind of dough.

Yep, spot on. It’s too much for us. No way we pay that for a player and quite rightly.

Exactly! Should easy be the money for those two and then any outgoings can cover maybe bremer and 1 other advantageous sighing

Sounds silly but Winks out mainly covers Bissouma. Fee for Emerson covers Spence. Bergwijn plus Reguilon covers Richarlison. Then the actual positive net spend can go on Gvardiol (+ another forward if Lucas goes or another CB if Rodon or Tanganga leave).

Overly simplistic ofc but if Gvardiol is our top choice in our #1 priority position I don't think 65/70m is totally unobtainable. Of course if they want closer to 100m then it's just not worth the risk.

For me, he’s the top player we could go for in that certain position that we are clearly marking as a priority. He seems to have everything we are looking for, more so than Bastoni in my eyes. I can’t see him being bullied, he’s a unit. £80million is an unrealistic price for a guy who is so young, and never played Premier League football. That’s a lot of wedge!!

Yup agreed. That’s without factoring in lo celso and if we can somehow shift ndombele on a free.

We wont do the deal for 80m or so.
But doesnt mean he is not worth it. He is currently the youngest capped Croatian player in competitive tournament - starting every game in Euros. So, unlike Ndombele , his country's national setup trust him completely.

If club wants to make a statement signing , he is the one. Having said, I would only go for him, after we filled all our other required positions.

He looks strong and yet curiously deft. Imagine Son, Kane and Kulu running onto those long passes! Do it Fab!! ?

My main worry would be that even if we agreed a fee, his agent would call chelsea instantly and they would gazump us for him

Now that Abramovic has gone and they have that tiny piss pot Stamford Bridge I am genuinely interested to see how Chelsea adapt.

They surely can’t maintain the sort of wage bill that Abramovic had going? Those days are surely over

I havent seen much of him except for when Rangers beat them, so im not sure if that is a fair rep of how he is, they werent great defensively.

But judging by what im reading on here, he seems one of those that you either get him this summer, or you dont get him at all...

It seems entirely plausible that Leipzig's model is: here is the price, for outgoings we don't really do 'negotiations', but on the other hand every player we have is always available for sale at price x'
I can tell you that this is the case. Every player is for sale if you pay what they want. Them being in Champions League means they have no reason to sell unless their valuations are met.

No Summer move for Gvardiol - New Deal and Sell next summer

From Jutarnji List (Croatian media) :
Key Excerpt (translated) :

Today, the news spread that Antonio Conte is ready to allocate significant funds to bring him to Tottenham, but according to the information available to Jutarnji list, he will have to be patient until next summer. As JL finds out, Gvardiol should soon sign a new contract with the German club, and according to the letter of that contract, Gvardiol should get a raise, but also a fixed clause on the basis of which he will be able to leave Leipzig next summer. The amount is not yet known, but it will certainly be over 50 million euros.

Gvardiol, in agreement with his family and agent Marjan Šišić, correctly estimated that at the age of 20 he is in no hurry, and Leipzig offers him enough space to progress, minutes, as well as play in the Champions League next season. And the World Cup is approaching soon.

In all honesty, all interested clubs would have known this months back. We may have checked again recently just in case - guess door is firmly shut on this for a year atleast

It'll be the same situation as Nkunku.

Stay put, no rush, move next summer for a previously agreed price.

The World Cup at the end of the year probably impacts a few players. Each player will adapt to a new environment differently, no point taking a risk this season and missing out on the World Cup.
