Sure, but we are all (mostly anyway) aware of the quality coming from Ajax. Just a bit of a worry I would expect for Man Utd supporters just as some were concerned that Paratici was relying on Juventus connections. Time will tell. I guess in the end, it is a matter of risk mitigation and ten Hag knows what he’s getting with these guys just as Conte prefers players that have performed for him. Maybe ten Hag’s approach is a good way to get a stable and reliable base to steady the ship before taking bigger risks.
What ETH is doing isn't too disimilar from what Conte is doing by getting players who are already familiar with his style of play. I mean, we could, in theory have multiple players with direct links to Inter in Perisic (already signed), Bastoni, Martinez and Eriksen join the club.

He is been quoted at £50m to £60m which is the same price range as Richarlison, Jesus, Raphinha who are all ahead of him in their development... £40m max should be his value currently.. at least 50% of players coming from Dutch football struggle to hit the expected level especially attacking players.

Honestly crazy the fee they are asking for him. Especially considering the bargain price they are getting for Bergwijn. Wouldn’t be surprised if he was above Raph on our list but we moved on once Ajax refused to be reasonable. We did have ITK we were in negotiations for him a few days ago.

But Ajax have always been like that. They sell their assets for huge prices.

Ajax have already sold Gravenberch, Haller for good money. And Onana, Mazzroui went out on free transfer. So, they already lost players this window that needs replacing.
Their point of view is, we will only sell what we need to sell. If you want others we need to keep, you have to pay over the odds

United by waiting for De Jong has shot themselves in foot on Antony deal. Had they moved a month back, Antony would be wrapped up for for 30m Euro. Now, Ajax saying they need an offer too good to refuse.
Cant blame them....

Only thing is, we have to be strict with Ajax as well on Bergwijn and not give him away without a good price

€80m is absolutely crazy money for Antony. He’s worth £25m max.
Really in the current market, seeing as he is considered quite a hot prospect, is being integrated into the Brazil national team as well as the current market being what it is, i could see a price of around 30/40 mil euros being about right. Anything above that is crazy money.

I think it's the English club tax. Fees from European clubs are lower
There's the English club tax and then the tier above is the Man Utd tax.

When you've seen a club spend £80m on Harry Maguire you instantly bump up the price by £10m when they come knocking.

De Jong for ~60-70m is justifiable but if they spend massive on Antony too it shows they've really learned nothing after all these years. Especially given the gaping holes all over that squad.

Agree, I also really don't see Utd spending £130/40 mil on De Jong and Antony. like you say, i think our one bargaining chip here (if we decide to go for him) is Bergwijn, im sure our interest only comes precisely because of their interest and us believing we may be able to get a good deal for him. Just like we are not going to be spending 65 + mil on Raphinha, we wont be spending near that on Antony.
