I can't believe people still rate Dele.

Lingard showed he is incredibly effective in a counter attacking team. He would do great under Conte.

Any day now he'll start performing like he did in the 2017-18 season :)

Only benefit I can see on signing Lingard is how much it will boil their piss over at West Ham.

I said I wanted us to go for him when West Ham were in for him, and everyone on here laughed.

9 goals in 16 games for West Ham suggests to me that we very much missed out.

Hope we get him.

Worrying when our targets are bit part players at other clubs. Lingard (a poorer version is Dele) and Traore ( good for 10 minutes at the end of a game when everyone is tired). Neither upgrades just different faces and names which we think will be so much better than what we have. Very spursy moves

I agree with you. I have no issues with these moves if these are in addition to bringing in other better quality signings, but if the extent of our ambition is Lingard, Traore etc who are essentially bench players from other PL clubs, then it's pretty obvious nothing has changed with regards to Spurs in the market.

We won't know that until September though, and I am hopeful that this time it will be different.

I personally think he is a massive dickhead. I will back him if he signs but I don't like him.

Is this based on anything specific? Southgate always talked up how important he was for the "squad atmosphere". I was under the impression he was the complete opposite?

We've been linked with Lingard once.

By the Star.

On 19 September 2020.

On the following day, Herc said he'd been offered to us by Lingard's camp and that, as far he knew, we weren't looking at him.

I'll leave it there.

Haha.

As I said, he is a club target, pre dates Conte and FP.

People can still pretend he's not good if they like but his spell on loan at West Ham was hugely impressive and the kid knows how to get goals.

At one stage he was being compared with Dele but at the time Dele was doing better and was more consistent. That's no longer the case and whilst Lingard is older, he's out-performed Dele in the past year - not difficult - and to essentially swap them would be a smart move.

Jess would be perfect in one of the two AM roles behind Harry when we play 3-4-2-1 or as a 3rd CM when we play 3-5-2.

It's a shame we can't do it now but as long as we're looking for a CM for this month (Kessie perhaps?), which we seem to be, then I'm happy for us to wait til the summer.

This would carry some weight if you'd said it 4-5 years ago.

Dele is absolutely done and needs to leave this club asap, preferably 3 or 4 windows ago.

Lingard has more to offer right now, on the basis that Dele offers nothing.

Wouldn't be my first choice, but he would improve our squad and his contract situation means we'd be keeping transfer funds available for other signings. Attacking players cost a premium, so bringing in one on a free who improves us is a major coup - especially when you consider that a rival wants him and another rival would be losing him for £0.

Dele & Berwijn out, Lingard in. Circa £40m net profit to be reinvested elsewhere (Vlahovic?).

Lingard is not a poorer version of Dele right now. Peak Lingard at Utd is perhaps a poorer version of peak Dele at Spurs. But current Dele at Spurs is inferior to Lingard at West Ham last season.

Traore is not being brought in to be an every game starting player. If he's coming in at RWB then he will rotate with Emerson. He'll also provide attacking cover for Son/Moura. What he provides is a massive outlet for our team that we don't currently have. Wolves cant capitalise on this as they don't have the quality elsewhere in the pitch to do so. But Traore at Spurs will create space of our attacking front 3, and probably one of our CMs to play into. This will create goals.

Are UTD going to run the risk of providing a player who could potentially put them out of the top 4 with a rival team? Would we sell Dele to UTD or West Ham knowing what he’s capable of?
I'd sell him to anyone ! and you need to substitute "he was"" for "he's".

I guess it depends how important "squad atmosphere" is. Him and Pogba seem to have a right laugh. I bet the "squad atmosphere" and Man U now is much better than when they were actually winning everything. I have a few Man U supporting people know that all think he is a joker and he is happy to not be playing (hence him not going in the summer). Also I have seen quite a few videos of him acting like a twat. - Having said all of that, Man U fans still seem to rate Pogba so what the fuck do they know?
