Not saying typical going for cheap option, but I do think price is a big factor. Even if they think perriera is better and better option, fact we could get a backup for 3m instead of 15-20m is in my opinion a massive reason why we'd switch targets.

If we've only got 45m + whatever get for Wimmer, minus off Barkley which could be 30m it doesn't leave much left. We'd need a RB, Wimmer replacement, maybe that's all but if there was an aim of another attacking mid or CM then perriera would leave nothing in pot, whereas this guy would. Massive balancing act right now in terms of finance.

To be fair, if it got us another quality attacking player i'm probably for it.

From the little ive seen id rather Toljan even if they were priced at same. Really dont understand the negativity here.
The difference is that Pereira has spent two full seasons as one of the top performing fullbacks in France (while making some appearances further up the pitch as well) whereas Toljan got 14 starts last season in Germany.

That's created the perception that Pereira is ready to come in and genuinely challenge Trippier to be first choice, whereas Toljan would be more of a project who would need to be given time. For those of us who don't rate Trippier's defending, that makes a big difference.

In reality I don't think many of us have seen much of either player apart from an odd match here or there, I admittedly have not, so this could all be off base.

It's certainly a signing that makes sense, but if Levy is really to be believed, then this is likely just BS unless the club believes he is a massive improvement over KWP. And judging by all the comments about him by Poch and the belief of the club relayed by ITK, I doubt the club thinks that.

I'm sure we have done our homework on this fella and considering his age he can be worked on by the manager.
We don't have city's resources so this is where we are at.

im sure DL and Co probably not happy the hoffenheim director coming out with that stuff, letting people of our interest lol
Clearly made to start a bidding war. Why would WHU and Palace join in at that price? And SCBC, swans, etc? If I were a smaller club I would be all over it. I think there was a WBU link floating around about it. But 15k fits in every teams budget which is why it should fit into ours even if we don't think it's long term. But perhaps the days of player trading are truly gone as Poch doesn't want to deal with a bloated squad.

He looked very good in the U21 tournament. Stood out to me. Would be a good signing at 3m. No brainer.

Fair point.

This is the reason I can't see us signing a RB until the season has started at least. I think we'll want to give KWP a real go first. Poch has made decisions like this before. Dier moved to CM 2 years ago an example when we were supposedly in for a CM all window.

I think that was because Poch was forced to improvise after the failure to secure the CM that he wanted (Schneidlerlin) that season, left him without the requisite defensive midfielder for his system. I never got the sense it was always Poch's intention to play Dier there mate. It was more a case of needs must. Thank God we've got such a brilliant manager eh mate.

Players valuation does not reflect how good or bad a player is. Few examples:
Dier = 5M - today's value ££££££££+++++++++++++++
Dele = 5M - today's value ££££££££+++++++++++++++
Eriksen = 11M - today's value £££££££++++++++++++++

Sissoko = 30M - today £££ ????

I saw him vs England in the U-21 tournament and he looked very dangerous going forwards. That's literally all I've seem of him but the commentators during the game did note he was one of Germany's better players.

It looks like a deal that suits the philosophy of both our manager and chairman... for that reason I see this as the most likely of all the rumours flying around. Haven't seen him so can't comment, but seems to be fairly highly rated and you don't get in any German national team unless you're fairly decent. And we all know what Poch can do with a fairly decent young player if they'll listen!

This is forgetting the £30m from Carroll, Fazio, Njie and Bentaleb

Would be a good signing IMO, another player with Croatian roots at Spurs plus Poch knows how to improve fullbacks.

I may be completely off base here but you have to imagine with Levy and large Spurs board delegation in NYC for the Roma game and that Nasdaq opening (maybe working on naming rights or financing deals?) we aren't particularly close to completing any new signings. Maybe won't until after they get back and Poch makes some decisions on youth players taken on pre-season.

When it's said in the press that he can play right and left back, is that because he's properly two footed? I'm a huge fan of two footed players, it makes such a difference to how effective a player is

Went on some Hoffenheim forums to see what they were saying. Most agree that he's very promising but also raw and he wasn't great for them last season (although they recognise he had a very good tournament in the U21 Euros). I'm a bit torn. If the fee is as low as £3-4m, then it could be worth it as Toljan and KWP could be an excellent duo of quick RBs in the future. However, if he is 'raw', then I also struggle to see why we shouldn't stick with KWP.
