Sorry, Kameni will sign, this guys info is accurate (I'd far prefer adler/gomes). I'm sorry to have to contradict an 'itk', but I have a source that has proven to be accurate , within the club.

P.S, I think you'll also find that in January I was the first to call Hutton still on after the 'knockback' (which never actually happened) and firmly stated that there was no truth whatsoever in the Downing, Fred or Love rumours. All four calls were very much against received ITK wisdom (which already had then signed up and kitted out for the photoshoot).

I've always believed the stuff you post mate. I dont trust alot of the ITK's (although I never slag them off cause I enjoy discussing the info), but you always sound like you know what you're talking about and there's no bullshit in between.

Glad we're not going for Kameni I think we could do better.

By the way, in your opinion do you reckon we'll make any really big signings (like Modric or bigger) or will they most likely be lesser profile? Personnally I'm not bothered about Ronaldinho, Eto'o etc. I'm a big fan of Villa though and would mind if we picked up a few of those Valencia boys on the cheap.

Dan - you clearly have some good info.

You were wrong about the duration of Gareth Bale's injury though. Many of us had already seen the Welsh local newspaper article which put him out for the season...

Was Downing entirely an agent story? The agent was clearly keen to make some cash, but it smelt like we would have taken him at what we considered a reasonable price. Then Boro put that price up and - as with Ashley Young - we basically said: "he's not worth that much", and walked away.

I don't want Kameni as first choice, but if Robbo also leaves I'd take him as second choice behind someone more reliable.

I'm still hoping Dan's info is correct though.

Cheers.

This is opinion but I would say more like Modric - i.e. 22-25 potential world beaters of tomorrow, our Patric Vieira c.1996 if you like, rather than established household names a la Ronaldinho and Eto'o. Villa of course fits this bill a little bit more, but I'm still under the impression we will start the season with the same three strikers as we have now plus a new kid as 4th choice.

I've talked of my preference for our two other major outfield signings to be Veloso and Lucho Gonzalez, but I also consider them to be realistic. Not especially the names themselves but the profiles (c.£15m players looking to move upwards to fulfil their ambitions).

Albelda as a 'Davids' would seem the most likely of the Valencia lot to me, but only if there's no luck with our major long term targets.

I reckon the Kemeni link is a classic smokescreen for the real signing. I'm still backing Dan!

I'm not too worried about having Kamieni. I think we could have the best keeper in the world, whoever that would be, and he would still be susceptible to making mistakes with the way our team loses initiative and invites pressure.

When pressure is put on the ball its harder to get accurate long shots and crosses in, although I dont think Robinson is the best on these.

Even Schmeichel made some errors, I remember there was a stage where he kept on getting lobbed, but because he done so much else well when it mattered and the mistakes were often hidden because Man Utd won anyway, looking back people think he was flawless.

Robinson had a high proflie error and didnt bounce back, nor look like he would, and because of the rest of our team's problems he was exposed again and again, and now every mistake is met with a groan.

A new keeper, whoever it may be, has the gifts of time, less focus and pressure on his performances, and probably a better team in front of him.

Dan, are you able to let us (A&C or myself) know in confidence about your source(s)? You've already started to get a bit of stick on other forums and that does reflect on SC as a whole as well.

We're more than happy to have you posting stuff and it's all extremely interesting but I'd be even happier if I could tell the doubters to shut up and that we know where you're info's coming from and that it's decent.

If you can't or won't tell us then fair enough, that's cool and we hope you keep up the interesting posts :)

Yep. But I also named my particular source re. Bale - I'd been talking to Matt Oakley about him. I have my fingers in a few pies but ultimately everything is second hand.

Re Downing, that was a mess! He wanted out, Boro were happy to let him go, so it was actually both of those who were leaking news of our 'interest', trying to reignite our previous interest from a few years back but more importantly stoke up interest from the West Ham, Newcastle and Evertons of the world. We were contacted by his agent but immediately said no. Ultimately there wasn't sufficient interest from anyone so they resumed contract talks instead.

I've already unsubtly hinted at my ultimate top spurs source - but our mutual friend is not a public figure or anyone anyone is going to know.

I've always said I'm a journalist which I how I have mutliple contacts across the business, but I don't write sports for any newspaper or online site so I have no agenda in frequenting sites like this. I hope my posts show, particularly as most are (explicitly) just my opinions, that I'm simply a big fan. My actual gripe is how things about the club are misrepresented by the media and in other rumours, usually to do us down, so I've just taken to correcting a few inaccuracies.
