Is anyone else annoyed when people say "yeah but you finished 11th last season"?

All I hear from the pundits is "yeah Tottenham look good and brought talent but they finished 11th last year how can they challenge the top four."

So us Spurs fans reply "we finished 5th twice before that though"

And pundits say "yeah but you had Carrick"

We had Carrick for the first 5th finish yes.

Some facts the with Carrick we finished on 65 points, withour 60 points.

Also Everton finished 17th with 38 points the season before they finished 4th.

I just say that maybe this year where we have brought well we might be able to do it

Doesnt bother me its where we deserved to finish last season. We had a poor start, a managerial shake up & had nothing to play for at the end. It takes a bit of pressure off us if people are writing us off before the season has started. Lets just hope that we can do ourselves justice in the league this year & do our talking on the pitch. Thats the best way to silence the critics

its not like its an opinion its a fact. a league is the purest way to determine who is better, you can't be lucky and win the leauge, 11th was a true representation of our performance in the league last year, we were awful.

cups is another matter though, we were fairly good and unlucky to go out against PSV and excellent in the league cup.

It doesn't bother me, because:
a) We did finish 11th...
b) This season is completely different, last season has no bearing on it, the past is the past and the future is the future...
c) Underestimate us at your peril, maybe Ramos can use this to inspire us, "look boys they are writing us off, saying you're not up to it, go out and show them"

We did finish 11th last season. The table doesn't lie.

Until the season starts we really have no idea how we're going to do. Based on the last few seasons we're a top six side, but other teams have gotten weaker (Arsenal) or stronger (Pompey, Villa). We have definitely improved our midfield and defence, but if Berbatov goes we're probably going to have a strikeforce that is largely untested in the Premiership. We could finish anywhere from about 3rd to about 13th. At the moment, no-one knows.

You won't see Man Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea or Liverpool finish anywhere near 11th so for it's a fair point. We need stability and even if we were to break the top 4 this season there's no guarantee we'd be there the season after. As always it's Transition Hotspur and it will take years to get it right. Just be happy that we seem to be heading in the right direction.
