If Winks was up to it he would not have ended up at Sampdoria. Bottom of the Italian league. Might have concentrated his mind in that no one of any standing was interested. May have to lower his sights if he is to get a move.

I think he's genuinely a championship level player - but at his current salary I'm sure none of them would match that where he would consider it. I'm sure another loan is on the books for him.

As a 6, he’s not good enough defensively nor can he play the ball forward through a press consistently. He would act as a recycler, similar to Skipp but Skipp but gets more challenges in. He’s not athletic enough to play as an 8. He gets ghosted by and is chasing shadows in each game I watch for Sampdoria.

Tidy on the ball, yes, but that’s simply not enough to play for a team that has CL and trophy ambitions.
So he’d be fine for us then? ;)

People will hateeeeeeeeeee this but Winks would actually be a far better fit for Big Ange's style of football than Skipp.

Winks is almost perfect for 4-3-3 tiki-taka style.

I don't hate this but I don't agree.
I think Skipp has more to him than Winks and I'm looking forward to seeing what Ange does with him, hopefully in a midfield where he's not pretty much on his own.

I wouldn’t be hugely surprised if he was given a bit of pre-season to have a chance but “almost perfect” is crackhead energy

Perfect in terms of if you had to pick a formation and style to fit winks it would be that, not that he is a perfect player lol

I wonder if Samp will look to keep him now they're not going to go bankrupt.

Winks may be more suited to that deep conductor role in a midfield 3, but that doesn't mean he's anywhere near good enough to do it for us. He's far too limited and doesn't even excel in his best position.

Good luck to him in his career but I do not want to see him near our team sheet again.

A player that hasn't existed since 2019.

I think people really overlook how good he often looked pre-injury hell. Those persistent ankle problems have broken him.

Yep, genuinely thought he was going to go on and become an England regular before his injury issues. He bossed some huge games for us in the CL and rose to some big occasions. Would have loved him to succeed here but can't see it now unfortunately, I still think he'd do a job in the Prem for someone though if the worse is behind him now.

Leicester will hate us even more now!!!

Leicester City are set to move for Harry Winks, the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, as they prepare for a promotion challenge following their recent relegation to the Championship.
Winks has emerged as a target for Enzo Maresca, the new Leicester manager, and negotiations are understood to be under way over a potential deal.
Tottenham are in talks with Leicester over the transfer of James Maddison, the England international, but the Winks deal is unconnected.
Maresca believes Winks, another England international, has the ability and versatility to become a key part of his squad in the Championship.
Winks has just over one year left on his contract and will be allowed to leave as part of a major overhaul this summer by new head coach Ange Postecoglou.
The 27-year-old has found first-team opportunities limited in recent seasons and spent the last campaign on loan in Serie A with Sampdoria.
Leicester return to pre-season training under Maresca on Monday, as they prepare for the forthcoming season in the Championship.

Winks would be an idiot to turn that down. It's a really good move for him. Championship side but let's be honest a big club and he will play every week.

I think that's a good move for Winks. Leicester should be very capable of bouncing straight back up. Winks has played through injury and pain for a long while now but has recently had surgery to sort it out. He should be a relatively cheap signing for them.
