Just mentioned in another thread he would be a great signing for Leicester if he agreed to go there. Had a nose on FoxesTalk and it's unreal that some of them believe the club is above his level. They're a Championship team now FFS.

my favourite quote from FoxesTalk

This is am Everton move, buying players on the way down. All of our success came from buying players on their way up.

Yes, and that would explain why Everton are still in the Premier League.

A good move all round.

He was ok for Sampdoria last year and in a team in the championship that wants to keep the ball he will be very good sitting deep recycling the ball. He gets to rejuvenate his career and they also get a player who they know can hold his own should they come straight back up.

I really wish him well. Hate to see how it's turned out for him, I still remember the kid scoring against West Ham with his mum in the crowd

Leicester would be a good move for him. He’s nowhere near as bad as lots of our fans believe, I hope he goes there and does well and reinvigorates his career.

True, but i still don't think he'd wanna go down to the championship

May well be the case but can’t see as many PL teams taking a look at him, plus with such limited game time in the past couple of years, how much football is he likely to get at some of them?

The Leicester move makes a lot of sense on paper at least - Solid club, likely to push for promotion, he has a shot at winning a place and getting decent minutes. Would also be good for both clubs to save a bit on the potential deals in place between players.

Job to know what happened to Winks. In some of those Champions League games at Wembley he looked like a real player - The Madrid game especially springs to mind. He had that bad injury, and never seemed the same afterwards.
He needs a move, so good luck to him if it comes off.

Complete lack of application and will to push on IMO.

Believed his own hype. Like Dele.

I think Winks is a Premier League quality player.

But playing week in, week out for Leicester and earning promotion could be a good move for him at this point.

Nothing like Dele imo. Got the ankle injury against Bournemouth and then suffered from not enough recovery time. I think he's lacked confidence since poch left and hasn't found his place.

Should have gone to a palace or similar 2 years ago.

How much you reckon we’ll get for him?

Considering his high wages and only
1 year left, I’d happily take £5m or so.

Nothing to do with lack of application, he just never managed to kick on after his injuries and got left at a point where he was no longer improving. Lack of confidence and more injuries then set him back further. No shame in that, and if he does leave I wish him the best and hope he gets a good reception if he ever returns to the Lane.

He's had surgery now which seems to have (allegedly) sorted out his chronic injury. I think he'd do well at Leicester and they should be well capable of bouncing straight back up. Good move for him and better than signing for a newly promoted team imo.

I don't think it was a lack of application or injuries. I think he was overrated when he broke through - which is pretty common with academy players, as understandably, fans want to see them do well. Then he got loads of stick for not living up to that hype.

There were, for sure, mitigating circumstances. He probably would have fared better if he had better midfielders to play alongside- as it was, he spent most of his Spurs career partnering maestros like Sissoko, Ndombele and Hojbjerg. Similarly, we have hardly been the most stable club for the last four years, and very few players have prospered since 2019. Nonetheless, I think he would always struggle to establish himself at the level we aim for.

We'll never know how much his ankle injury affected him. I remember reading at the time that he was going to have to play with some pain the rest of his career. Anyone who has played any level with pain knows how this affects you physically and mentally.
