He definitely wasn't the reason we drew. I also love the kid, he's clearly a lovely lad and a die hard fan. Also, I don't want him sold.

However, he's not starting XI quality. He doesn't have the defensive awareness to be a DM. He's not a tough, ball winning midfielder. Isn't a goal scorer. Isn't really box to box. More edge of our own area to half way line.

So when you don't have all the above, you have to be a Pirlo/Modric on the ball. He certainly isn't that. This notion that he passes the ball quickly is bullshit. Passing it quickly, sideways, to Ben Davies just to get rid of the responsibility, isn't a good passer of the ball. He will play the odd ball forward, but he's no Xavi is he?

Squad player. If he wants more and will kick up a fuss, let him go.
this. I read this thread and its like people are expecting him to become Pogba.

Mourinho style of football does not fit 85% of our squad players. We have a squad of players used to possession football and Levy went with a winner however its to be seen if Levy continues to back him because we don't have enough players to play Mourinho football.

He played one decent forward pass all night. The rest of the time he was passing to Wolves and running the ball out of play.

I appreciate he's Tottenham through and through but he's not good enough for where we want to be.

He’s just not a good player guys. Not gonna go too hard on him cause discussion about him seems to cause an emotional reaction. Be it in criticising or defending him (I’ve been guilty of this as well) but we’ve gotta face the facts with him now. He just simply is not up to it. First half he was just sort of there buzzing about the place. Second half he was actively terrible. No ball retention, no positional awareness and no physicality. The moment where he took two awful touches running sideways across the pitch before panicking when he got pressed and poking it out of play trying to get it to Højbjerg summed him up for me. 25 in a months time as well. Hard to see much scope for improvement now. Time to get rid.

Winks is not a top player but as a rotation player who also fills in a home-grown status, he is the best we can do right now. If we could find a different HG player to fill that role and be on low wages, that would be great but I don't know who it would be?

What's disappointing is that having lost his place and having not been regularly starting for quite some time - he has not gone away, reflected and seriously tried to improve his game e.g. strength, conditioning, stamina, speed, shooting, set pieces, forward passing, heading etc. etc. That's what the better players do. I would question aspects of his mentality, game intelligence and decision-making just as much as his skill set and technique.

Just another player who wouldn’t be anywhere near the starting 11 at clubs who will challenge for the title. Another player who we carry.

Central midfield is obviously our weakest area. None of the players in there except for Hojbjerg seem suitable for their roles. I was surprised in the summer that we didn’t try and get another new player in there. As I have said before, getting one in January is paramount to us improving our performances there for the rest of the season. But I don’t think we will have the funds to make a dent in there unless we move on winks or sissoko. I’d be happy to do that with either of them to be honest.

Central midfield certainly is a problem for us. Even talented players like NDombele and Lo Celso look a bit 'wonky' in there, and they're not consistent enough (I know injuries have had an impact with this).

We need to find a better system and formation, and then get players in who are suited to it.

I think this has been one of Winks' problems; he's not really been given a definitive role in a structured side and has turned into a bit of a jack of all trades type player.

Personally, I'd go for a 4 2 3 1 formation, with a DCM, a number 8 box to box and a number 10.

DCM: PEH and Skipp
Num8: NDombele and Lo Celso
Num10: Dele, Lamela...possibly Bale

I'd tell Winks to get jacked, become more aggressive and choose one of those positions to work at (probably DCM or number 8).

We have to go back to Dembele and Wanyama to find a time when we used to dominate the midfield battle.

Re last night. The system changed from Wednesday , neither hojberg or winks knew their role hence winks or hojberg being effective at anything. He at least did look pro active when he got it putting reggie thru a few times. He needs someone disciplined alongside him , another screening type midfielder would help.

Im not even sure, while talented they are, GLC and Ndombele are the answer in there. It’s all a bit of a mess. Personally I’d be tempted to look at it again in the summer with all of the central midfielders available for sale except hojbjerg. None of them have really done enough to impress me consistently.

No one would look the answer in there the way we set up. We would massively regret selling Ndombele and Lo Celso. We should be looking to move players on who can’t handle the ball and or can’t win the ball back. I would also like to see Hojbjerg playing as a dm on his own without Sissoko covering the ground and space or our wide players dropping in to see how good he actually is. Just like the CB’s I think his weaknesses are being hidden by defensive numbers and work everyone has to put in.

listened to the "last word on spurs" podcast last night. They read out Winks' stats for the few games this year and beyond. Zero through balls, fuck all tackles, no assists in the prem. Wanyama has more goals for Spurs than winks .

Winks scored a header from one yard out against Fulham a few years back and a goal he ended up revealing was an accident and should have been a pass in the Europa League.

Dreadful return. I cant even describe him as a player.

Mourinho is used to having Essien, Makelele, Fabregas in his team. What is he supposed to do with this fella.

Hojbjerg already does the short back and sides passing coupled with the tackling and shit housery. We don't need Winks doing a baby faced version 5 yards to his left.

watch .........look at his youtube HIGHLIGHTS. A nothing player.
