Not sure why people keep banging the German league dominated by one club drum. What is so different about the PL? Yeah, it is much more competitive and entertaining to watch, but it still doesn't stop Man City from clearing up.

Harry will do what is best for himself and his family, so he will sign a 5-year deal with us. It just makes sense.
City have won six titles of the past ten; Bayern have won ten. City just had a pretty good year and nearly lost the title; Bayern had an awful year that saw their coach and half the board sacked and still won. Not remotely the same IMO.

Normally I just read the excellent content by others and chirp up occasionally but what if :

DL said to Kane if they hit 100 million we will accept the offer and you can leave , to ensure that this time Levy keeps his word we have accepted that bid.

Since then Harry has seen Ange and likes what he sees and has doubts o whether he wants to go including all the family stuff going on.

Levy can offer Harry a new deal so Harry has all options in front of him.

in conclusion Levy keeps his word this time to Harry , Harry can stay and sign a deal and both keep face as so Bayern who say they bid their highest ever amount.

statement on website Levy can say we supported Harry and accepted a bid but always wanted H to stay , Harry can say he decided the club is moving the right way and is happy to sign a new deal ….

but what do I know my lads pay £5 a week subs for grassroots men’s football !

I understand the point you want to make, but it is a bit simplistic. Even this year someone will win outside of La Liga, that being Haaland or Messi probably (PL & Ligue 1).

Apart from a World Cup year, the UCL carries the most weight in this vote now. Lewandowski would have won in 2020 if the award hadn't been canceled, for example.

Messi and CR7 are no longer in the running, Mbappe/Haaland are good, but not as good as the two above, who won even with other teams winning the UCL. Kane would have a great chance if he keeps scoring goals and wins the UCL.
So by logic... Haaland, golden boot in the tougher league, current champions league winner... wins for the PL... and then it's an international window etc. Dunno, I think you don't go to the Bundesliga for the Ballon D'or you go to Spain or Italy... that's not to say you're wrong, you could well be bang on, but if I was looking at it myself, even seasons where Lewandowski was incredible he didn't bring it home, so if that personal award was my goal I'd be staying for the free transfer to La Liga... but that's just the way I'd go... nothing to say it's how he's thinking. He could genuinely think Bayern is the door to everything because the Spanish teams are weakened.

First Carragher, now Owen. I'm sure there will be more suddenly 'sensible' ex footballers or pundits posting and pfeferring Kane to stay just to get more distraught fans like us agree and like, milking the whole saga fully. Remember, for the last 5 years they are the fucking same ones stroking Kane to leave us ASAP to win something.
This pair most likely think Liverpool will get him if he stays and then walks for free next year so they want to help keep that option open.

People overrate the PL scoring record. What happens if he gets that? A few nice twitter posts congratulating him? Also, someone can take it away from him in the future.

Winning trophies comes with medals, team celebrations, bus tour in front of the fans, permanent record in the history books, probably a win bonus of some sort.

Players are always going to pick the later.

I'm with Carragher on this one.

No-one talks of Shearer being a PL winner. For years he has been and IS the premier leagues all time leading scorer. That is his trophy and his legacy.

If Kane gets it, it becomes his and that will be what he's known for. Even if he wins a premier league title with us, in 10 years he wouldn't be 'Premier League Winner Harry Kane'. He'd be 'The Premier Leagues All-Time Top Scorer, Harry Kane'

I'm afraid you've had your head in the sand if this is coming as a surprise to you.

You can't replace Kane. Therefore we paid £60m for a new striker last year (succession planning?) and have bought a new young striker to develop. (possibly with another young striker coming in).

Dont delude yourself into thinking we're going to go out and spend £80m on a kane replacement. We've already done that.
This really is my gripe about this thread and Levy's antics.

If we didn't sign Richarlison last year, people would now have been complaining that we didn't plan in advance, when everybody and his dog knew that we would sell Kane with 1 year left on his contract.

Now when we actually sell Kane, people are instead annoyed by the fact that we don't replace him this window.

We can't have it both ways...

Tbf surely Lewa woulda won in 2020 if they hadn't cancelled it for covid given Bayern won the CL and he scored 48 goals that year. Didn't he win the other big award that year?
Probably, I did look for it, but there was only a short list, I think.

Bayern have historically dominated the Bundesliga, whereas Man C have only started dominating the Premier League relatively recently. But I agree your point stands that Man C are absolutely dominating the league now and show no signs of slowing up. They have won 5 of the last 6 seasons. Maybe Newcastle or someone will eventually overtake them, but it will probably take a few years, and by that time, Kane's career will be coming to a close.

People equally under-rate golden boots.
I could immediately tell you that Gary Lineker won golden boots, I’d struggle to recall exactly what he won in Spain.

Harry Kane is deliberating over whether or not it is too late to make the biggest decision of his career after Bayern Munich finally agreed a fee with Tottenham Hotspur to sign the England captain.

The breakthrough in negotiations came late on Wednesday evening with a fee in excess of £86 million accepted by Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy.

The key to the deal appears to be Bayern having re-organised their offer so that Spurs receive a far greater amount of money up-front, with fewer add-ons and staggered payments, so they can invest in their squad immediately.

Bayern have been confident all summer that Kane wants to join them but the protracted nature of the negotiations, with three previous offers having been rejected by Spurs and with the Premier League campaign kicking off this weekend, has gradually called that into doubt.

Telegraph Sport revealed earlier this week that not only was Kane leaning towards staying at Spurs, and potentially seeing out the final year of his contract, but that he absolutely wanted his future decided before their first league game against Brentford on Sunday.

Tuchel would be stunned if Kane deal collapses
In theory Bayern will believe by reaching an agreement today they have done that but it remains a complex deal and might not be concluded quickly. Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel has made Kane his No 1 target and remains extremely confident that the 30-year-old will sign. He would be stunned if it does not happen.

There have been suggestions from sources in Germany that the only delay on the deal now will be because Kane has some financial details to sort out with Spurs. Personal terms offered to him by Bayern are believed to be acceptable.

Bayern will also argue that they attempted to force the issue by setting a deadline of midnight last Friday for their previous bid to be accepted by Levy. As expected it was ignored forcing Bayern to make yet another offer.

The accepted bid tops the €100 million minimum that Levy was demanding for Kane, and with add-ons is close to £100 million. Crucially, it also fulfils his demands on how the payments were made.

Kane would not contemplate leaving Spurs once their season has started and believes this would be unfair on the fans, the club, his team-mates and also head coach Ange Postecoglu who he admires and who he already has forged a good relationship with.

Harry Kane to Bayern onward journey
It would be a devastating blow to Bayern if Kane refuses to move now and it would make it highly unlikely that he would sign a pre-contract agreement with them in January, when he is free to do so with an overseas club.

If Kane stayed at Spurs and saw out the final year of his deal it would not only increase his options next summer when he will be a free agent but will mean he can not only sign a shorter-term contract or, indeed, could join another Premier League club.

Kane has shown no inclination towards signing a new contract at Spurs.

Levy has always made it clear that if Kane is sold his preference is for him to go overseas. Manchester United again considered making an offer for Kane but concluded it would be impossible to negotiate with Levy, as Manchester City discovered two years ago, and decided to sign Rasmus Hojlund instead.

Kane scored four goals in Spurs’ pre-season victory over Shakhtar Donetsk last Sunday with fans serenading him with chants of “we want you to stay”. It remains to be seen if he does but a move to Bayern is not definite as things stand although a final answer is imminent.

Kane does want to break Alan Shearer’s record of 260 Premier League goals – he is currently 47 behind on 213 – but has still to win any trophies as a player. Given Bayern have won 11 Bundesliga titles in a row his chances of silverware are almost guaranteed in Germany while Tuchel has told him they can win the Champions League together.

Yeah but the narrative was more leave and join Man Utd or another premier league club.

I think the 'sensible' ones have always seen Kane as staying in the premier league, so Bayern isn't what changes the needle for them.

Yeah maybe game-changer is the wrong phrase or needed further clarification. I meant we finished eighth and played some of the worst football I can remember Spurs playing in the last twenty years last season. I am in no way saying that's Harry fault but having one world class player in your team is not better than having a more balanced team with a more balanced coach with arguably no world class players. For example I enjoyed watching us more under Jol than I did under Mourinho or Conte, despite the lack of a Harry Kane in Jol's team. In other words, for me having Harry is not the be all end all if we can sort out the rest of the team. That's my opinion, I don't expect other people to agree with me.
Thanks got you now, originally thought you were saying Harry wasn’t good enough to make a difference. Personally I would keep him because a) we might not spend the money b) might not spend it well and c) 4 quarters don’t make a dollar in sport. The hardest thing to find is genuinely world class talent unless you are one of about 6 clubs and can just buy it

Yes, I want Orban over Vlahovic.
Orban fee is said to be 25-30m. Vlahovic is 60-70m

Vlahovic has scored 4 goals since Oct 2022.

I would happily take Orban for 25m over Vlahovic for 60m and spend that additional 35m+ on Toney (could go till 50m).
I don't know man, I still like Vlahovic. And when is a better time other than now to get him when his stocks are so low. If we managed to get him back to his Fiorentina level of finishing and confidence, our front line will be insane. In Ange set up, he can score for fun.

Totally Agree. its the same with Levy accepting the fee. This thread was very happy with Levy's "antics" over the last few days, knocking back Bayern's offers and holding out for a better one. Now they have seemingly matched or got close to what we deem acceptable, Levy is negligent because its later on in the window. He's damned of he does and damned if he doesn't.
