And end up with two strikers nowhere near as good as Vlahovic for your money

Toney I could get on board with but Orban over Vlahovic at any price band is ridiculous. People are getting way too carried away with goals in a terrible terrible league. Someone like a prime Charlie Austin would absolutely bang goals in that league, you still wouldn’t want him at Spurs

Laughable...
You want Vlahocic for 60m+ EVEN THOUGH he scored only 4 league goals for Juventus since Oct 2022 ?

Anyway, I dont want to derail this thread on Kane. If the move transpires we will have this discussion in respective thread

This makes no sense. If his camp have already briefed he wanted it done one way or another before this weekend then how is it now too late?

His wife is pregnant and due soon I believe. That's a lot of upheaval to move, get house sorted, kids sorted, hospital and doctors sorted for the birth also.

I don't think it's too late for footballing reasons, but all personal ones that he would have to think over.

Doesn't really say anything new, though, unless I'm misreading it? Just a rehash of all the stuff we have been discussing here for days. The most interesting thing is about Tuchel being "stunned" if the deal falls through, given how the deal is apparently on a knife-edge.
Tuchel and everyone in Bayern really are some downright arrogant pricks.

I suspect Rob's reading of the situation is correct.

Levy was happy with Bayern's offer at the weekend and wanted to buy some time.

In that time H has decided he's quite content to see out his final year with us under Ange and keep his options open. Now it's whether Bayern (and probably Levy too) can convince him to go through the deal after all. The situation with Kate not being able to travel and how much he probably enjoyed the Shaktar friendly probably contributed to the position.

I hope he decides what suits him best, deep down. Shouldn't have to go to Bayern because he thinks it's the right thing to do for all parties.

Totally agree. Too late for what? He shouldn't care about us, and who we re-invest in...which it might be late for, but Levy has accepted it

Too late for the season for him? Hardly.

If he doesn't go there, it's (in my opinion) principally because he doesn't want to move his young family to Germany, which is fair enough

Totally Agree. its the same with Levy accepting the fee. This thread was very happy with Levy's "antics" over the last few days, knocking back Bayern's offers and holding out for a better one. Now they have seemingly matched or got close to what we deem acceptable, Levy is negligent because its later on in the window. He's damned of he does and damned if he doesn't.

I think you can satisfy both schools of thought here, there should’ve been a point beyond which the deal was pulled from our side as it would be too close to the start of the season - and a genuine pull, not just a negotiating tactic to squeeze a bit more out of it.

I remember seeing ITK along those lines too.

If we’ve accepted this late then it will be interesting to see what offer was too good to turn down a day before the season starts.

Are you saying you’d rather Orban over Vlahovic?
As I have said in the Johnson thread. It doesn’t matter who you want from overseas as we currently only have space in the squad for two homegrown players and that becomes three if H leaves.

I think the enormity of the decision is sinking in with Harry and his family.

Not saying this wasn't discussed at length previously - of course it was - but all said and done, he may not have ever believed it would actually come to pass and coupled with an impending birth, this really is a sliding doors moment.

I was actually ready to accept Kane leave this summer, but around 3 weeks ago. If levy cared about the club he would have set a deadline for Bayern so we can get prepared and life without Kane. 2 days before the seasons starts and now he accepts does hurt a bit, and leaves us completely unprepared.

It would be hilarious if Kane turned down BM now. Yeah, we would miss out on loads of money but imagine Bayern doing all this work for him to say, “nah, I’m good thanks”. German press will have a melt down that their massive club was rejected.

Personally, I'm not sure I buy this explanation because, a) if an offer has been accepted, I don't think we risk Kane for eighty min in a friendly and b) I don't think a friendly would hold enough sway with Kane to prompt a change of heart.

I'm more inclined to believe the reports that we accepted a better offer from Bayern last night and now Kane is making his final decision.

It'll take what, 15 years since he set it for Kane to overtake Shearer? And not like Shearer is gonna disappear from the record books.

Next up to take over from Kane could easily be in another decade or longer. Kane will still have when he was playing he broke the record.

When you think of Shearer, do you think of him as the PL all time top scorer or a premier league winner? I think the vast majority think the former.

It’s not what comes to mind for me 😂😂
