I hope he stays and Chimbonda goes. Not at all surprised PSV (who are better than us right now in case you'd missed it) want him back. He was a Lord there - by the way anyone who was at the PSV home game should have noticed the incredible reception he got when he came out to warm up as a sub. It nearly brought a tear to my eye, looks like their fans appreciate him a lot more than some of our morons do.

He was our most consistent full back in his first two seasons and was an integral part of the best ever Spurs Premiership defence (unlike Chimbonda who has been part of two of our worst), and I honestly believe we would have beaten Seville had he not been injured for the 2nd leg. He had Alves in his pocket in the first game. I was living in Spain and this fact was not lost on the Spanish media. In the 2nd game both goals came down our left and Alves ran riot.

No one has really ever skinned him or embarrassed him (apart from that one Park Ji Sung incident), and he rarely had the benefit of a proper left winger i.e. he was constantly doing 2 people's work. Although he wasn't much cop as a left winger he was and still is a great outlet.

When he had a couple of games in tandem with Bale they looked very very good. Shame it could not continue.

As for the myth that he's not good in the air, I've seen him win more than his fair share of headers (by the way he's the same height as Ashley Cole and Michael Owen at 5'9'' not 4'11''). It was also interesting to note that the host of the popular podcast "Cock on Ball" (who had won a comptetition to go and watch Spurs train) was in awe at just how good Lee was in the air.

His stamina is rivalled only by Jenas. I don't recall anyone ever complaining about his not tracking back - and that's because he does track back - an awful lot. He is disciplined.

He also has a lot of determination and is no slouch. He has been clocked at running the 100m in 11.3 seconds.

I genuinely do not know why Ramos prefers Chimbonda to him. The only area he seems to edge him out is arguably his body strength (unless you count Chimbonda's "strength" of heading over the bar from attacking free kicks and corners at every single opportunity).

All this of course has been done without a single word of complaint, a single tantrum at being substituted, any bad blood with previous clubs, transfer requests in the dressing room, crying like a baby to the media when a potential replacement was bought, gloves, gifting penalties, losing his man every single game etc. etc.

Now to shit in this thread.

Lee was pretty dependable for us and always gave 100%. So he wasn't creative in attack, but did we really suffer that much for it? In his first season we had a very good defensive record, just being pipped to 4th place. For a lot of that time it was suggested that Lee was playing in 2 positions without adequate support from a left winger. Still he was solid.
Up until the arrival of Ramos he's continued to put in good performances with a great attitude. We've scored a lot of goals despite our lack of an attacking creative LB. Some people seriously don't seem to rate a player if they aren't a goals and glory type player. Lee might not be the player Ramos wants but let's not forget his part in getting us into Europe through the league twice in a row.

Has,

Lee was owned by Ronaldo when they beat us 4-0 at the leane last season...

Would that be the one where they controversially showed the replay on the big screen of Ronaldo clearly diving for the penalty for the first goal?

I wonder how many of you will swallow your pride and come back here to acknowledge his skills when he's stood there with the rest of the PSV squad, after being a regular starter on their way to the CL finals :|

as i said before, just because he doesn't fit into Ramos' plans, it doesn't make him crap.

To say a guy who, only last year, was part of one of the most effective defensive units and attracts the interest of teams like Roma and PSV is crap is just making yourself look like a bunch of mugs.

we have only got bale, gutner, chimbo, hutton left.

tragic!

BYE LEE...thanks for..... uh

We only have, Bale, Gunter, Gilberto, Hutton, Chimbonda and Benoit-Assou Ekotto left.

That is more than enough for next season if they can stay fit.
Cant see Chimbonda here next season though.

I have always thought Lee has done well for us, might not to the flashy things like some players, but worked hard at what he needed to do (defend) and tryed to give another option down the left.

Dont see what people see in him paul m2k5?? He is lightweight offers NOTHING offensively and gets caught defensively. Were all entitled to our own opinion but he is not the type of player we need at spurs.

Can someone please tell my why on earth PSV would be interested in re-signing Lee after his shocking performance against them in the uefa cup,not to mention his other poor performances over the past 2 years.

I for one wouldn't be sad to see him go.
Poor buy in the first place,
Bale will be back next season and we also have O'Hara that can play there aswell.

If we want to get to the next level we cannot afford to be carrying any "dead wood".
So Lee,don't let the door hit you on the way out.:hello:

idiot.:stupid:

A back four of Stalteri Dawson King Lee had us in 4th for most of the season and helped us to one of our best defensive season for a long, long time. To dismiss his contribution to us improving is disrespectful in the extreme. Clearly Lee doesn't fit into the way Ramos wants his fullbacks to play but, that doesn't make him a bad player and I wouldn't be surprised if PSV are interested considering when he was last there he was part of the team that got to the CL semi final.

Well said!!

I think Lee has been one of our most underrated player and like for this season IMO he has done a good job every time he's been there. Sorry to see that he doesn't fit into Ramos's plans!

Benoit's awesome, hope he recovers well.

How both our best left backs got injured is beyond me. the work of gooner-voodoo (goodoo) methinks.

Mate, i have lost count of all the names i have called him.
Well that sums up the mature, unbiased view you have of him then really :|

you appear to be revelling in similar opinions and completely ignoring the solid facts that he is a very, very good right footed left back who rarely gave anything but 100% for the side and, even on his off days, could only ever be called "average".

You're really showing yourself up for the lemming you appear to be - as i've said a hundred times now - just because he doesn't feature in Wendy's plans, it DOESN'T make him crap.

If he was crap then Champions League teams wouldn't be interested. I don't know many other ways to try to make you chumps realise it so, frankly, i find myself wondering how you manage to make it through a week, having such short attention spans.
