I will be sad to YPL leave. He has played out of position most of the time and has carried out his role as a defender pretty well.
He has worked hard at being a first team player and does not deserve the opening post on this thread.
Then again, some Spurs fans have only been Spurs fans for a little while so they don't know any better. And for that I will excuse their stupidity.

No he hasn't. He's a left back. He's played at left back most of the time.

As Nidge and Jack have both said he has made a SOLID contribution to this team. The fans always get on his back, and that's why he'll be back at PSV.
The PSV fans LOVE him, they were chanting his name when he was warming up on the touchline at the home leg.

Fair enough we havent seen the best of his crossing ability. But if any of u decide to watch PSV's semi-final CL game against AC Milan, you'll see he has the ability to cross (with his left) in him. Probably just lacking confidence.

I agree that he was immense in that game, but how could he lack confidence, if he was able to cross with his left foot in the biggest game of his career?

Bale is a good prospect but the way some of you harping as he's a good defender is just ridiculous.
And BAE is also very well below par. His passing is more atrocious than a certain central midfileder

Good point GL.
Ever since I saw him play in 2002 World cup, I thought he'd be a good player.
If you watched his game up until about 2 seasons ago, he liked to draw defenders in with stepovers and dropping the shoulder. When he attacked the opposing team, you always thought he'd at least get a cross in (or beat the defender and get a cross in). He used to have quick feet (even for us). But somewhere over the last 2 seasons he appears to have gone back into his shell..................

BAE has been nothing short of absolute pants in a Spurs shirt and his attitude stinks as well. Lee has been a far better player/servant to the club and he gives his all in every match. BAE's attitude is that football is just a job and he actually doesn't like it that much!Eek

Well aren't you just a big fat ****.

Lee has been good for us 99.9% of the time. I still think he should be playing ahead of Chimbonda, but for some readon Juande doesn't.

Lee, if you do leave in the summer, thanks for being so consistently good for us and good luck for the rest of your career. You deserve so much more credit than you get here.

Dont get carried away now!!! 99.9%?????
Even BERBA aint been good that much!!!!

The "Lee is shit" thing is such a load of crap, it makes me laugh so many of you are ready to write him off. Shouldn't really be surprised, happened with Salty too, but it just goes to show how quick people are to forget the contributions made and stubbornly refuse to admit that a players any good.

Just because he doesn't feature in Ramos's new Spurs it doesn't mean he's crap.

Something else to note - tribalfootball post sh*t. Really, 24/7 air-biscuit. They're up there with FansFC and Clubcall for accuracy and aimless speculation

I feel a bit sorry for Lee because he's a good honest professional and if PSV's his club I hope he gets the chance to go back there.

I am pleased that Ramos has put the lie to some of the ridiculous hyperbole surrounding Lee on here (you know who you are), I've heard people claim he's one of the best players at the club, in the Premiership and even in the world (lol), in truth he's none of the above. That doesn't mean he's unworthy of praise just that it should be reserved for his spirit, stamina and honesty.

On the question of positions and primary purposes, I think we'll look back on the era when full-backs were meant to first defend and then attack in the same dated way as we view the ridiculously camp tight shorts and permed hair of the eighties. There are many ways to defend as a team and surprisingly few involve sticking your boot in. Give me a great over-lapping full-back with the ability to go past a man or cross the ball accurately but with slightly suspect tackling ability (Hutton, Bale, Carlos, Alves) any day of the week over the solid defender but uninspiring can't-cross-for-shit-rabbit-in-the-headlights FB of yesteryear (Lee, Stalteri etc).

Aren't you the same person that claimed Zokora would prove to be a world class central midefielder this season or did I imagine that comment last season

Not that I am saying Lee is world class far from it but, he certainly isn't as bad as some people on here would have us believe. (That goes for several of our players including Zokora) The majority of Lee's time at the club he has been a LB defending the left side nearly by himself as the left midfielder (firstly davids/tainio) and then Malbranque all tended to drift more central than stay out on the left, under those circumstances I think he has done a pretty decent job and doesn't deserve the sort of shit he has had on here in the past. Just a shame we didn't get the chance to see more of him playing with Bale infront of him as I thought they showed signs of linking up quite well in the few games they played together.

We agree on that. That is why I like Hutton and Bale so much, they could really prove to make a massive difference next season both in defense and attack.

I thought Bale was a better at LM than LB personally.

And while Chimb has made a fair go at LB I still rate Lee based on consistency in his performances.

I mean Chimb has hardly set the left flank alight has he?

And as for Gilberto........!

And all I remember from BAE was him getting run ragged by the Goons at the Emirates.

It is a case of how long will Chimb stick it out on the left will decide on Lee's future, not some speculation based on him fawning over his days at PSV.

I'll miss him. And i'm not happy with the slating that goes on about him, it's totally unfair. And wrong.

Eek Nah that was my notorious alter-ego Sloth, he's always coming on here making ridiculous statements and making me look stupid. In fact I reckon he's probably responsible for every dumb-ass post attributed to me. I of course, as everyone knows, am infallible, which is why they call me sloth the infallible!

Lee has played really well for us at times, and at other times he's been exposed at the back and also unable to use good opportunities to put in a decent cross with his left peg. If we can get a couple of million for him and invest it in top-notch players to take us upwards then that is fine by me.

I definately think that the wankers that started booing him or moaning when he hit a couple of shit crosses effected his desire to keep doing it.
