I'm going to give a donation to Havant and Waterlooville instead.

Why?

1. They missed out on a dream tie against us with a last minute goal off some scousers back.

2. They won't get any tv money.

3. They're not scousers.

Anyone who holds up American sport as either an example of good governance or product is a moron.

Must have boiled his pisss when Kane came on at 0-6 against Tranmere
In fairness I seem to remember that boiling a lot of people's piss and there was a thread dedicated to how Kane was too hungry for goals :cautious:

Mmm ordinarily I’d happily donate to something like this but my hatred of all things Scouse goes well beyond Liverpool and Everton so they can go swivel as far as I’m concerned.

Agree. Better to donate to SC!

Sentimental cobblers. In theory any team can win it. In reality who actually does win it?

It's either a serious, meaningful competition or it isn't. If teams like Marine are in it, then they have no right to complain when we send our under 23's who will probably spank them 5 or 6 nil. They certainly have no right to expect multi-million pound, international stars to risk themselves playing against players who are barely of Sunday league standard.

People that cry when they fix shoes?

If you’ve ever been to Crosby, they don’t need the money ?

I live down the road from the ground. If marine sold the stadium they’d get a lot of money for the land, as it’s in a relatively expensive area for Liverpool.

however, other than the ground as an asset, I’d imagine marine are scraping by financially as all non league clubs are. So they do need the money and hopefully this tie can secure their future for the next few seasons.

It is these types of 'David v Golaith' matches that gives the cup a sense of romance and intrigue.
Make it memorable for them and let Kane have a little run out so their fans got something to remember.

TV money alone will see them more than comfortable for years if the club is run correctly.

So what, we're not a non-league club now are we? Look at their ground, are we expecting our players to play on that shitheap? Fuck them, let them play our under 23's and be grateful for the pay day.

A load of old pony about the history and romance of the cup means fuck all to me. Life moves on, so should this antiquated competition.
And this ladies and gents is why we as fans should make sure there are no more Yanks getting involved in the running of English football or it's clubs.

They're a part time football club. We're a multi-million dollar business. It's ludicrous in this era that this nonsense is allowed. You don't get it another sports. You won't find the LA Lakers playing some part time basketball team. You don't risk multi-million pound assets on park football pitches against players of Sunday league standard. Or you shouldn't have to anyway.

It's pointless. Send our under 23 or under 18's up there for a day out.
I've proudly held the Miserable Old Git Of The Year Award for several years now
but I'm sending you my crown and prize certificates.
I just can't compete with this level of MOGOTYA.
Congratulations.

this Marine team beat Colchester in the 1st round, and many U23 teams struggle to beat senior teams in that lower league tournament that lets the top teams use their U23 squads. and looking at our U23's they are actually struggling in their age catagory

Great gesture this. Thank you on behalf of the club. I’ve been supporting them since 1964. The way things stand, we have made money from the cup but this is about equal to income that we have been deprived of because of the closure of the clubhouse. 180 seater and 80 seater lounge used for wedding receptions, bar takings etc. Each year is a struggle. Last season we made £4000 profit and we breathed a sigh of relief as we have no rich benefactor. Every pound is hard earned. Re the Third Round, the FA has not said yet if the losing team will receive any money as in previous rounds. The money we receive from gate receipts will also be rather small compared with what it might have been.
Crosby is in a relatively affluent part of Liverpool, on its northern edge but it’s a real struggle to compete with Liverpool and Everton. Our average attendance last season was 466. Our fans are as passionate about Marine as any club in the city.
One of our most famous players was John Lacy. If you know your history you will recall he played for Spurs in the early 1970s and is still involved ....corporate hospitality director someone told me yesterday.
Some of the comments on here are quite nasty and as a non League club I think undeserved. However, regardless of these opinions, and everyone is entitled to them, I think everyone from your club will enjoy the day. You’ll be given as good a reception ...even better ..than if it was Everton or Liverpool. Mourinho has already shown great humility in his comments on the Spurs tv site. It is gestures like this that cement friendships between clubs. We have a long, proud history. However, playing Tottenham Hotspur will be our proudest moment and a day that people will talk about well into the next hundred years of Marine FC. Thanks again and I will do my best to promote this gesture of goodwill because the intention only paints Spurs’ fans in a good light. I have passed on the bank details to the organiser and thanked him on behalf of our chairman. Any Spurs fan coming to our ground in the future will be given a fantastic reception. We wish you could attend and hope we don’t get stuffed!
