I'm sure that if enough spurs forums are plugging it then sooner or late some record store bloke will get hold of it and get the mass media involved. As someone else pointed out, record sales are low at this time of year (esp singles), and if HMV or Zavvi or Woolworths or whoever senses they can make a bit more money by telling the masses about our cause then they will do.

I'm no marketing guru but it seems to me that by saying to the country,

"If you're a spurs fan by this record, if you don't like spurs buy ANYTHING else just to keep itt out of the top ten"

thats a pretty easy way to mobilise thousands of people and boost your sales figures for the week by dividing opinion in much the same vein as novelty kids singles do.

Going back to my earlier post about Capital Gold, Dean Martin at 9pm has said he'll mention the campaign and perhaps play the song, if he receives a lot of emails apparently he may even be allowed to contact Manilow's record company and see if they can boost sales as well. I prefer to get behind Spurs and cheer them on rather than sing about the shortcomings of rival players, why don't we sing about our team rather than other teams

This is an extract of an email I got from Jim Duggan of Topspurs.com

There is a coach which leaves the palmers green area to follow Spurs on all away
games and has between 20-50 regulars on it, a real varied mix of scarfers, druggies,
nutters etc and has been going since the early 90s

For some reason the last song or the most memorable song of the trip used to be
can't smile without you and it went from the coach to the terraces in the mid 90s, i
first remember hearing it in 1997 away at Liverpool (Francis last game) and has
grown and grown since

It was a good, fans only underground thing for quite a while and then a few of them
got photographed with the can't smile without you flag at the 2001 semi final and
from then on it grew and grew so much so that the club cottoned on and used it in
the last game of the season celebration back in 2006 (which I'm sure you are aware
of)
